2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

I mean, I haven’t suggested that at all 😂

I try not to use insults. Have had insults aimed at me multiple times and pointed out others resorting to insults multiple times within the Dyche thread. So a bit of pointing out how wrong some of the above claims were isn’t exactly a major outrage in my book.

I apologise if you found dychettes to be an insult, but in my view it was literally a term for those who support him. Same way evertonian is a term for someone who supports Everton.
I didn't find it to be an insult, I just mean it was clearly used in an insulting way. When people say 'Oh here come the Dychettes' and 'where are the dychettes now' etc, or do little photoshops saying 'to the dychemobile' it's clearly meant as an insult. It's all good fun like, I'm not saying it's actually offensive, just that it was clearly intended to be a derogatory term and pretending otherwise is disingenuous. The point being that making out like only one side of the debate was insulting or condescending is just completely untrue, and so saying you're giving some back now doesn't really work seeing as it was being dished out both ways at the time.

Well who was to know that we were about to embark on that string of absolute bums back to back?

Why have you ignored the quotes from me on the day that Ancelotti was confirmed as leaving, saying I was gutted about it?

I never wanted him sacked, ever. Not once did I advocate it. I was disappointed with how we performed under him during the second half of his full season, massively disappointed in fact. I still think failing to get Europe that season was failure from the position we were in. I didn’t have the benefit of being able to see into the future and see how bad we were going to be in comparison at that moment in time though, seemingly you did so well done for that.

Well, prior to appointing Ancelotti, we were scrambling around in the dark for ages looking for a replacement for Silva. Maybe that should have given a clue about replacement criteria?

Remember? We were about to appoint Moyes, for which you said you'd rather Duncan Ferguson got the job, than Moyes at the time. Yikes.

You can be a spoilt brat and cry about managers after every bad run of form - but to sack them, you have to factor in who could replace. And again, like in the context of the quote from the archives you started with earlier - Dyche wasn't getting sacked until new owners were in. And no manager, Moyes included, was coming to Everton until ownership was resolved.

Dyche's first defeat, under new owners - I shared a view we should sack him. Because at that point, it could happen and managers would be willing to come in.

Pretty sure I was the first to use the term 'dychette' and it was describing the Stone / Woan axis of uselessness. Other used it to describe fans. IF football supporters are genuinely hurt by the term, I'd suggest therapy because they obviously have deepeer issues than people disagreeing with them.

I haven’t said it’s only one sided.

But as I don’t tend to try and insult people, when posters are making those claims I was talking about while also using direct insults towards me, then im not fussed about giving a bit back after they’ve been very much proved wrong.

Haven’t said it was you. They know who they are. But maybe I just need to start directly insulting people at the time instead.

Anyway, nothing against you. So going to leave it there and revel in Moyes doing bits.

I find it pretty cringeworthy.

We've gone soft in our moderation approach, largely out of necessity the last few years, factoring in general Everton angst but come the new season that's a term we'd do well to use in search to sweep up.

"uses this word than 10 times" = "bin"

If you banned posters for calling others Dychette all that would do is show everyone your true colours.

Someone that can’t get over the fact someone has come in and shown you were completely wrong about the man you have a shrine in your bedroom for.

I'm wrong loads of times.

Wrong more times than I'm right, actually.

I'd be worried if I wasn't. Take chances in life, you know? That's when most develop and learn.

But football - it's all just opinions.

I do my best to keep an open mind. I can show you plenty of me taking the piss over Sean Dyche before he was Everton manager. Gave him a chance. He, in my view, did a tremendous job to keep us up. He did a brilliant job last season, too.

This season, he needed to be sacked as soon as we were able - which was under new owners. I shared my own view that after Nottingham Forest, with new owners and a transfer window about to open - he should be sacked. We couldn't keep a glorified interim manager in place. He'd served his time.

Not sure which bit of that "I've been completely wrong" about.

But I'm pretty sure I can demonstrate an open mind.

You on the other hand?

Please show me examples of me not having an open mind.
