Beto has been described as limited and not good enough throughout his time here, yet one thing he’s proven he can do is slot. DCL is almost the polar opposite; technically better, holds the ball up well and is a good target man, but can’t really slot.

But what do you actually want your striker to do? Bag, of course. Can easily argue that playing to Beto’s strengths (through balls resulting from actual build up play) will serve us better long term than playing to Dom’s, and that buying creative players with vision capable of playing through balls will likely mean we’re a better side overall anyway.

I’d argue DCL is just as limited as Beto but in a different way. Don’t think he wants to stay either for what it’s worth, but he’s never worth more than £100k p/w given his goal and injury record, and if we want to improve as a side lumping it up to a target man may not be the future anyway.
Ergo get kin rid.

Appears to be outside of our criteria for new signings (too old, too expensive), so I’m not sure why we’d want to offer him a 4 or 5 year contract?

He makes a difference today I think. Midfield and centerbacks were constantly under pressure with no outlet. He’s a better matchup against most squads for us than Beto.

Having said all that, happy trails to both this summer.

You saw the same tho, right?

Nobody has posted in the Beto thread since the game ended.
Because it clearly wasn't his fault mate. Beto stayed on the last man and took the defender out of the game. He didn't get any service and as a result he didn't get any chances. Not rocket science
