2024/25 David Moyes

Literally before your eyes! Everton - took him 4 years to stabilize us. Took him 4 years to build West Ham's team. Failed at Utd, Sociedad & Sunderland as he didn't get his normal 3-4 years. Took the Michael by talking to Utd and agreeing his contract whilst Everton manager then denied doing it. As for balance you seem to want a whitewash!

Don’t want a whitewash at all.

But my pet hate is continually reading ridiculous sweeping statements, which mostly are false.

For context, Moyes NET spend over 11 seasons with us was just 5.6 million!

So yeah, it was always going to take time. But that was completely out of his control, yet is now being used as a metric to use against him.

I don't feel when we appointed Benitez levels of enragement at all.

I'm not exactly doing handstands either, but Moyes should make us competitive and tough to beat again.

Hopefully he'll leave some solid foundations in place for his successor to build on. It's all about trying to get the club eventually into a position where we can compete for the european places again.

I'm disappointed with this appointment but moving into Bramley Moore as a championship outfit would be a disaster. I can see the new owners reasons for this move, even if i am one of those people who'd prefer someone else.

The second coming of David Moyes is not quite the fresh start i had in mind!

And he didnt when he first came either.
I would have preferred Lee Carsely TBH but he is unproven in the Prem -but his knowledge of younger players may have been advantageous, but we go with DM MK 2-- any former players or Managers returning has never worked out before - saying that it's going to be an uphill task for any Manager -next to go should be the DOF those two loan deals were foolish imo Harrison & Broja.....

For all those who don’t want Moyes or think 2.5 years is too long then I think a bit of realism about our situation needs to take place.

In the summer we will move to a new stadium, have the majority of our players leaving for various reasons and our DoF (the supposed football expert) is out of contract too.

They can only do so much at any one time and to have a man at the top who has experience of PL, experience of Everton and experience of building squads and scouting based on value for money is a no brainer for me.

Let Moyes build it and in 2.5 years we could have re-laid the foundations of a good team again that Moshiri picked apart piece by piece over his tenure.

Moyes does all of the above while giving us the same grit and edge that was Dyche’s supposed strength
Well said. Listening to talk sport and some callers especially one slagging moves for not winning trophies in first spell! 5 mill a year to spend relayed by bill as "quote by moyes" doesn't get u much. Even back then. We will see but still think and really hope improves us.

I have to be honest and think about how it affects the long term stature of the club and I think an appointment like Moyes starts the rebuild. I think about the side Moyes left Martinez and it was a decent Striker from being a Champions League side, something Martinez just needed to guide in 2013/14. The rest of the side was fine given a few tweaks here and there. Since 2013 we've gone downwards, Martinez brought excitement but his football was too adventurous at times and it cost us. No need to mention what's happened between 2016-2025 but we have been in decline and managed on and off the pitch poorly.

Give Moyes something to work with like Pickford, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, N'Diaye, Mangala and he will fill in the rest. I think it will take quite a few years to see the change we want but I think if we stick with it and can be clever in the transfer market, we should come out ok.

First, Moyes needs to get goals out of this side and make it solid. Goodison needs to be a tough place for the opposition and he needs to get off to a good start against very difficult opposition. It's a tough start and a relatively easy fourth round draw would help if we can get it. I can't say a lot more because it's important to see how these first two games go next week, then we can see what he is trying to do.
