The problem with the tenure of Brands, is that it`s never really been clear who was actually buying the players whilst he was here.

Undoubtedly the idiot Moshiri and his bent agent mate, bought players that he had no input with ( Tosun for starters ) and then there`s the likes of Koeman, who went on that mad spending spree of buying loads of No 10`s and no strikers.
Posted an interview with snowwashed denim lord himself the other day, where he’s taking up his blocking the purchase of Ballotelli when Mosh was all in on the idea.
He had a lot more sway that than he’s been given credit (blame) for.

The BBC did a piece on him whilst he was here, it was like a eulogy. He was going on about the Digne/Mina/Gomes transfers and how he knew how to deal with big clubs. Whatever his level of influence he knew how to talk himself up.

He's a superior manager to some of the names that have been touted as good choices - see, Thomas Frank.

Moyes is levels above Dyche for a start.
So what? Of all the managers in all of the world, why are we entertaining a fella who is a bit better than the current fella just because he managed us over a decade ago? There will be plenty of managers who are levels above Dyche. Go for the best one of them we can get.

This is precisely why the culture of the club has to be gutted. New stadium, new owners, new horizons. Comfy Cardigan need not apply.

spot on mate this and only this

Genuine question, what did Brands achieve in terms of say player sales? He gets credit for Branthwaite. Didn’t he waste a lot of money on other dross, actually when we had money? I genuinely can’t recall
According to the Red Echo Marcel spent over £300 million on players during his time here.

For those with short memories or like me who rather forget that period of Everton history here's some of his Greatest Hits...

Delph
Iwobi
Bernard ( no fee but a ton of wages )
Gomes
Mina
Doucoure
Gbamin
Godfrey
Kean.

To be fair he unearthed Branthwaite, brought Richarlison to the club , and got our money back on Iwobi and Kean but it's still a pretty terrible record.

Dunno mate...don't really want him back.

Fancied himself a bit to much.

I guess we can count out a big return of Denise then :(

I think he was using that example to show how the lunacy was behind the scenes.

Hes Dutch. Thats what theyre like.

50 odd cap midfielder for Italy. Would be ideal to slot into our centre and add top level experience to the team.

As much as i like the youngsters i reckon this would be a perfect deal for us.

Hes someone that should be playing at the top level.

He built or was building a team for Silva's style and then had Moshiri appoint managers who were totally unsuited to what Brands wanted to implement.

Its very hard to know what he actually did and didnt do.
