Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all ,snow again here even we are a bit fed up although it is melting as fast as it drops .Well done @Eggs a well deserved lie down ,a friend of ours had the retina detach whilst running and it took her a short while to recover ,I agree with AT that I fidget at the thought of staying still for a long time ,I think it is the position you need to keep up rather than staying rigid .
Have a great day all COYB

Only just turned on now. Radiohead followed by Sade.

Presume you were referring to Walk on by above. Weirdly it was on my Ipod around the same time it must have been on Beeb 2. Possibly my favourite ever cover.
I cannot find that track can you help me ,I can get Walk on but not by above ,Walk on by but the same and Walk on by above -nothing . I am serious Fred .

….cheers, Matey. Had the emergency op yesterday morning. Chuffed I was first on the list with the same Consultant I had with my other eye a few years ago. My daughter is a hospital surgeon too and they know each other, not sure if that helped.

Anyway, 4 needles directly into the eye to numb it isn’t the most pleasant but after that it’s relatively comfortable. Takes about an hour to remove the gel behind the eye, fix the holes in the retina and reattach it. Weird thing is you can see everything happen, the ‘floaters’ sucked out with the gel then the outline of the laser. They but a gas bubble in to protect the retina whilst it repairs.

Not for the squeamish. Daughter took me back in this morning, eye’s a mess and can’t see anything out of it at this stage but they think yesterday was ok and it’s looking fine at the minute. I now have to lie on my left for a fortnight before I go back.

Mrs Eggs and I were due to go on holiday in a fortnight with our daughter, husband and kids but there’s no way they’d let me fly so I’ll have cancel (hopefully get monies back off insurance).
Reading that made me wince! I bet you’re glad it’s over. Good luck with the recovery plan and how reassuring that your daughter knew and had confidence in the surgeon. How amazing that your daughter is a surgeon- I watch Surgeons at the Edge of Life on TV and they all blow me away with their skills and knowledge- you must be so proud of her. Take care

Good morning all, we had a brilliant afternoon and evening yesterday meeting members of the 1878 group and the wonderful Sarah who also has the website Mint is Culture. Although I’d heard of this before I didn’t realise exactly what they do. Their aim is to create a good atmosphere at Goodison to encourage the team which sounds a bit vague but after we took all the photos yesterday we spent a couple of hours helping them to roll up and place flags all over lower Gwladys and put cards on almost every seat in the Park End for today. We left at 7 and they were expecting to be there until about 10 and going back in first thing to finish off. All this on a voluntary basis and what a great set of people- total respect to them all.
I felt really emotional seeing my husband and son holding up the banner but since the daughter in law has been pregnant I can blubber at anything 😂.
So it’s back again for the early kick off and for those brave enough to watch it, spare a thought for those few people who’ve done their best to create the atmosphere needed to win when you see the flags and the park end display. Just need the team to get their finger out now.
They loved the Women of Grand Old Team T shirt by the way @Gwladysover and @anjelikaferrett and took lots of pics of it 😂.
Enjoy your meet up @jazzy and @anjelikaferrett and have a great Sunday all 💙.

Morning all. A busy weekend for me, as outlined in other threads. The Highland League has another shoot out between Buckie Thistle and Brechin this afternoon. Buckie are now top on a goal difference of 2, having been forced to play 5 matches in the past 10 days and won them all. Today the last match is a local derby home to Keith , Brechin are away at Brora 🤞
Tomorrow I’m running the local Moray Marathon in Elgin , a double 🤞🤞 for that. I should finish in time to be home for the Forest match 🙂
Good luck 🍀

Respect to all indeed (including you and your Husband) I've never really given any thought as to how the flag displays are organised. These things really do make a difference to the atmosphere.
ANYTHING that might give the players a boost in vital games like today is appreciated.
Unfortunately I can't be at the game today, but thanks to one of our fantastic GOT members I WILL be taking my Grandson to his first derby on Wednesday. UTFT ;)
