No one has mentioned ,it is the tax break system in the UK that is tempting employers to provide EVs but the public are shying away because of costs .

I've wondered on our last couple of trips that if we were up in the Highlands in an electric car how would we charge it without having to drive miles to find a charging point.

Got on at Leeds and the train was absolutely chocker, with no available seats and tens of hens dos en route to Merseyside.

Happily a hen very kindly gave up her seat and there is no truth whatsoever in the rumour that MrG is no where to be found lol .

It has been thought through though (what a string of words here lol ) - battery production/recycling is the most toxic part of an electric vehicle, the rest is better than a non-EV. Even then - new methods and robots being developed to recycle the batteries is a thing that's happening, but the problem is that electricity doesn't just naturally appear at the charge port, it's also using other processes, and so on and so forth. Nuclear solves that, but has a lot of opponents too so... lol

I'm not 100% in on them either, I'd love it if they were appropriately priced and all, but currently it's not great. I also just like new tech/innovation so I know it's a personal thing a lot more than it is not.

Tell you what though, it annoys the da's that are against anything new, so for that alone I'm all for it lol

I don’t think it’s a case of being against anything new, it’s a case of being against something that’s in its early stages of development and hasn’t had the wrinkles sorted out yet, a bit like heat pumps, wonderful idea but the technology isn’t fully developed. I’m sure it all will be in the future, but tbh why would I swap a reliable diesel that can be fuelled in a matter of minutes and has an impressive range. If a product is not at least as good as the one it is replacing then it will be a hard sell….

Really sorry to hear this Anj, but you are taking the right approach by saying it’s just a different path to recovery. He is in the right hands and being in the right frame of mind will help….
