Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Aww thanks. He rang the woman at the Agency today who was organising it and sge said the job had been 'rescinded' so the employer have changed their mind or have found somebody on their own. He's a bit disappointed. These job agencies are a pain, you have to jump through so many hoops for them and quite often there isn't a positive outcome - or any outcome!
That's a kick in the teeth. So sorry for him

Hi Folks, it's been quite a day! Since we got back from Ascot my foot has been swollen and very painful. I've no idea what I've done but occasionally after the gym I get a really sharp pain across the arch of my foot, it usually goes away by the next day. Also because of working from home, I hardly ever wear shoes - it's either trainers, socks or slippers. While we were away I wore actual shoes, we did a lot of walking and on Monday morning my foot was swollen, hot, red and very painful. I couldn't get a GP appointment until this morning - by this time it was much less painful and also less red. The GP said I was walking on the outside of my foot, she was concerned about the redness and I could have cellulitis, bursitis, arthritis, gout or a stress fracture! So, I'm on antibiotics, have to take anti-inflammatories, have to have an X ray and get blood taken. Good grief. Also no gym for two weeks.

On the positive side, lunch was awesome - really good catch up with my friend. We tried a new place - can recommend the Three Horseshoes if you are in the area lol
Oh no, hope it gets better soon, at least your GP is taking positive action to get to the bottom of the problem. Have you ever had plantar fasciitis? Arch pain can be a sign of that, but this sounds much worse. Take care x

Mornin all on this cloudy day here in Hyvinkää .I hope all are well and had a good sleep . So sorry to hear @anjelikaferrett has problems ,at least they are on it but please listen to the doctor as more damage is the last thing to help.
We have underfloor heating and I don't wear shoes ,sometimes crocs mostly nothing , my feet have been wonderful all my life but now they are as rough as a bear's bum and I have an ache at the top of both feet behind my toes .Almost certainly because of not using the proper footwear . Of shopping today and I have been warned no meat ,after eating from the fridge for a month we still have so much ,I was definitely a squirrel in a former life .COYB

Just stopped raining here so no chance of any gardening.

As a result we've cracked on with the spring cleaning and only have the kitchen and a couple of bedrooms to do. Remarkable what you find when you remove the cushions from the sofa and behind it lol .

Anyway doing a couple of hours in the shop to help Mrs J out later ( reorganising books CDs etc ) and then a table tennis match across the road in Formby tonight.

Have a lovely day everyone.

A visit to the big city of Aberdeen for me and Mrs b today . We went to the theatre , with lunch before hand at their restaurant, to see 12 Angry Men . I’d seen the Henry Fonda film which was excellent, and the stage version was very good too.
I’ve got a couple of hours to kill in Aberdeen next week, anything interesting to see in the city centre ?

Good morning all on this still dark morning here in Finland .I hope all had a good night's sleep and have an incredible day today .
We are getting rain today which is not normal for this time of year ,I think it is the first time since I arrived 25 years ago ,the wife will prove me wrong when she reads the paper this morning -they are very interested in the weather here as it means so much to running of daily life -no buses stopping here though ,in fact the trains run exactly on schedule no matter how bad the snow or ice ,we are just used to it and I suppose have all the machinery .
Off for the third time to the garage for the latest diagnosis early this afternoon.
Inspired by @jazzy we are doing the kitchen and living room floors with the cleaner I mentioned ,so it is hauling around our furniture and carpets ,we have an industrial lino on the floors here as it is one of the choices for underfloor heating .Nice and easy to clean and it dries quickly too. COYB

I lived / work there for nearly 20 years but it’s changed since I left and I’m probably not the best to ask as I rarely visit the centre these days . My kids / grandkids live in the suburbs . It depends on what your interested are, there are a number of art galleries, Union street’s granite buildings are unique, old Aberdeen and Fitdee area need walking to from the centre as does the beach and Pittodrie.
@Alanbileysfeathercut is more up to date than me re what to see in the city centre.

Is the prevalence of underfloor heating over there the reason why fitted carpets aren’t really a thing?

Isn’t it mad the things that run through your head during the week! lol

I retired last November and I don't do anything like the amount of work that you do J. I'm tired after reading that. :D

Dennis Law statue is at the back of costa opposite marschial college, which in itself is magnificent.
Union Square upstairs for food.
Todders is down by the beech which has some decent old school cafes.
Decent walk along the front if it's a nice day.
Lovely part of the city is down by the universities, cobbled streets, even Seaton Park can be nice.
