Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I built my own house and had fence panels every time we had strong winds I would lose some and as a builder i wanted to know why, there were two reasons 1/ there were no plants behind or in front and they break the wind force up to ten times there height and 2/ the panels were tight down onto the wall. When I lifted the panels up 2" I never lost another one with gales up to 90mph .This might be of some use to you -----or not .
.
Now that's really interesting.

I lose panels because Mrs J has stuff growing up them .

I never go for solid panels because of the wind thing but never thought of leaving a gap under them. Genius
Thats interesting about the plants , on the garden side we have roses, clematis , buddleja etc , but nothing on the other side which is exposed to southerly winds. We do have gaps as they’re positioned just above the soil .

Our previous panels were open , trellis type panels, but they kept either breaking in small sections necessitating constant small repairs or the wooden posts rotted at the base and brought one sometimes two panels down.

oh my goodness @jazzy. Not what you need. If you do ever need help in an emergency, I can work from anywhere so just give me a shout. I'd happily babysit Mum and the animals. Lovely pic @Gwladysover.
It's very windy here too. I nearly drove into a huge branch lying across the road on my way back from taking Mr F to work. I've done my last pre-Christmas socialising. I met one of my workmates for a pie chips and mushy peas lunch. I need to get into the gym before Christmas - mostly for damage limitation purposes!
I'm in work tomorrow - that's a shock to the system and then back in on 29th. I will of course be giving it my all. I must tell you about a care plan I read last week. 93 year old bloke with home carers. 'Mr X loves salt on eveything and everything must be fried in lard' He's my new role model. Who needs healthy eating 🤣🤣🤣
Hope you're OK @Terrarian and @Brett Angell Delight - what's on the Christmas menu this year?

Have a good evening x
You're such a star Anj.

I’m very much a creature of habit so the menu this year is the same as the last few!

Blinis with salmon mousse for brekkie, then traditional turkey and trimmings for dinner.

Prep will take place over Saturday and Sunday for the most part, so brace yourselves for the usual, increasingly drunken food posts.

Hope everyone else’s prep is coming along nicely. Wrapped all the missus’s presents up last night so feeling suitably smug, though still got loads to do for the kids.
I'll be tuning in mate.

No prepping required for me. I've got the neighbours kids for Christmas Dinner. They're getting a Spanish style roast which involves about 3o minutes prep and an hours cooking. Won't even have time to get pissed😀
