James Vaughan faces a fight to save his career after being booked in for another knee operation with specialist Richard Steadman.
The 19-year-old Everton striker headed to Colorado for surgery on Monday

Vaughan looks certain to miss the rest of the season. A knee injury placed his future in jeopardy two-and-a-half years ago.
He was out for almost 12 months after needing surgery on cartilage and ligament trouble.
'The knee just locked a couple of times in training, and it is terrible luck for the boy,' said manager David Moyes, who was yesterday named Barclays manager of the month. 'We don't know yet whether it is the same problem as before, but it is the same knee.
'We decided he should have an operation now, rather than wait until the end of the season, and he has to be a doubt for the rest of this campaign.'

oh dear.

[Poor language removed] I cant stand to see so many years of development fall away for this bright prospect. He is an outstanding player and has hardly even played in the past few years. I really hope he has what it takes to fight back and I'm sure he will

My heart goes out to the boy, every Blue will be thinking off him. This explains why Vic has been getting so many chances of late, so sad(n)(n)

Harsh on the lad. Not the finished article by any means but he showed alot of promise and had undoubted potential. I wish him the best of luck.

Damn, I give the guy credit though. He never seems to get down from all the health problems he's had. I hope he doesn't turn into a what if? player.

Ah [Poor language removed]. I've followed sport in Colorado long enough to know that multiple visits to Dr Steadman (Vaughan's third?) mean a story that rarely has a happy ending.

If he's previously had or is having microfracture surgery, there is some information about that (and this doctor) here:
Wikipedia - Microfracture Surgery

All the best, James, and keep patient.

Edit: I see elsewhere that DM says that he is just "having cartilage trimmed" so hopefully it is not as bad as it might be.

Not again, felt sorry for the lads and he should have all our support over this let's hope it is nothing serious and he look sharp when he plays for us and have score some great goals for us this season.

Shouldnt hurt us in the run in this season as we have good options up front but it is a cause for concern. Vaughan is deffo a talent and one for the future. I just hope that these injuries have been nothing more than bad luck so far in his career and after this one, he'll be 100% for the start of next season.

Does he try too hard on the pitch - putting too much pressure on his body?

He's got nothing to prove to me - 100% class act.
