TV Series

Friends came out when I was 9 or 10 and I absolutely loved it. This was obviously before streaming and also having loads of channels on Sky (not even sure we had Sky then at home) so I used to watch it over and over again. Dread to think how many times I have watched it, especially the early seasons.

Can understand why people wouldn't like it if they came to it for the first time now though and the later series do get quite bad. Especially what they did to Joey, turning him from a bit of an idiot but loveable to an absolute moron. The Joey Speaks French episode is one of the worst things ever committed to screen.

Think I was just 3 when it came out in '94 and I remember (maybe not the first season) when it was just me and mum living together on a Friday night she'd always sit me on her knee and we'd watch Friends together. It's a show that's very sentimental to me. Later seasons definitely aren't as good as early but the whole package is just my favourite TV show ever.

The new Ahsoka series proves that Disney would've been better off just sticking with the old EU. The big excuse was that there was just to much material to read and it wasn't fair to expect that of people yet they're now delivering a pretty mediocre show that you have to watch eleven full seasons of 'kin cartoons to fully follow all the references and plot points! Nah. You're ok thanks. I'll do without.

And yet here you are racing to watch it first thing Wednesday morning when it drops lol

Think the thing with Friends is that, whilst it was seen as a bit of a breathe of fresh air in the sitcom world at the time, it just hasn't aged all that well. It dropped at a pretty pivotal time for the format and attracted a lot of younger people because of the young cast. It seemed to gain international popularity quite quickly and never really dropped the ball for years after, hence why it made a legacy for itself.

Finished Alice in Borderland both seasons now. Highly recommend. It has been a while since I have felt the desire to binge through a series like that.
Fantastic series!
So good that Squid Game came out when it did and became massive or it wouldn’t have been marketed as well on English speaking Netflix. I loved the blonde hoody lad, quality character who had some amazing moments in the second series games like the prison and the maths one.

Seen One Piece (the new live action Netflix adaptation) has been getting some excellent reviews, which seems to have caught many people off guard. Really want to give it a go but just struggling for the time these days.
Speaking as someone who’s really not into anime I have to say it was fantastic TV!

The trend in tv at the moment is anti-heroes but you will never find a more likeable main hero character as Monkey D Luffy - brilliant motives throughout. It has a similar vibe to A Series Of Unfortunate events Netflix series for me, brilliant escapism you can just enjoy and not take too seriously

Only thing that annoys is me is the people who say “oh it copied Squid Game” not realising it came first.

Actually enjoyed Ahsoka this week, been a bit dull so far (not all of it, but the dull bits are very dull). The writing is incredibly pedestrian given Filoni and Favreau are behind it and its a big step down from Andor, but yeah - latest one's alright.

The cinematography is beautiful, the score is great, the Japanese theme is great & so is the fight choreography but my god the acting of absolutely everyone on the show besides Sabine, Shin & Baylan has been shocking. Really letting it down.

The inconsistent episode lengths pisses me off as well.

Some of it has been ropey I'll grant you, but I think they're struggling with a really flat script
