Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all. It isn't raining. Yay! I think a quiet day is in order - it's been a bit full on recently. Full on for our current age anyway.🤣
The Irish songs have prompted this question- did any of the Liverpool natives go to Flanagans back in the day on a Sunday. There was an Irish band called Cream of the Barley who used to play there. They were brilliant. I've no idea how I ever made it to work on a Monday after a Sunday in Flanagans!
Never went on a Sunday Anj as was always tied up with other things. But regularly saw Irish bands in there over the weekend and one of them could have been the band you are referring too. By that stage I could rarely stand up straight never mind remember the name of the band.lol

Was that a Brazilian BBQ place you were referring to a few posts ago Anj? There were a couple in Liverpool around castle street I frequented back in the day. Used to love the caramelized pineapple they used to serve with the gammon.

I quite liked Brown eyed Girl which is a good song. But doesn't get close to my top 10 Irish acts. In no particular order The Cranberries, The Undertones, Thin Lizzy, U2, Horslips, Rory Gallagher, Ash, The Pogues, Clannad, Snow Patrol, The Corrs, The Script. That's just off the top of my head. I think I even preferred the Nolans to him, but that's probably because I fancied the chops off our Maureen. I do draw the line at B*Witched though (note the spelling Jazz)lol
Add in The Divine Comedy to that list and we’re in full agreement mate.

Yes it was. They had pineapple but I never managed to time the gammon waiter and the pineapple waiter to have it together!

Don't get him started on U2 Blue. Or even The Stereophonics and they're not even Irish. lol
Fave Irish bands: The Boomtown Rats, The Pogues, Thin Lizzy, The Dubliners, The Undertones, The Saw Doctors, The Wolfe Tones,

U2 are OK - I thought The Joshua Tree was a brilliant album and I love the song they did with Johnny Cash called The Wanderer - but that is more from loving Johnny Cash than an alliegance to U2.

Similar in that they are both very different to other mainstream acts. Divine Comedy fall under the ‘Chamber Pop’ genre.
I've become a bit obsessed with a new girl band called the Last dinner Party of late. They've been termed "baroque pop" which I suppose is similar. If you have time check out a session they did with BBC 6 live. Google it and you'll find it easily enough. It's only available for another 2 hours though.

Morning all (is it morning or afternoon). Like you @anjelikaferrett my weekend has been Prosecco fuelled and full on. My last clear memory Friday night was going on the rope swing with my son in the park on the way back from the local restaurant (very age appropriate), and yesterday was a fabulous hen day which started with dignified Buck’s Fizz and cake in the midland hotel, followed by a bottomless brunch in a hell hole called Banyan (loud and rammed) and finally karaoke in a proper place with our own room - never experienced that before. I think a nap might be appropriate sometime this aft. A really good time was had by all.
I would say oh to be young but I saw nothing yesterday to make me wish that that was my weekend routine. It’s official- I’m geriatric.
Sounds like you had a fun time Val. It takes me days to get over a night out now. Gone are the Thursday to Sunday weekends. I'd die now!
