He was solid. Good tackling, passed to a player then moved into space. Did the basics right.

He faded a bit in the second half, but he had one moment where he lofted a lovely ball over the top for Tim Cahill who, predictably, completely failed to hit it, but it was a difficult chance.

Overall, a 6 or a 7 out of 10 - which is basically Darron Gibson in a nutshell. Mr. Average.

Yeh kept a defender out of midfield. Think he will do ok for us.

He started very well, but then seemed to just dissappear for 70minutes.

Ah well, first game at a new Club after not playing much recently.

I aint gonna abuse him till April.

I think when we start playing better as a team we'll see him come out of his shell a bit more.

Or maybe if he's out of the team for whatever reason we'll miss him?

Time will tell, i was impressed. We can't complain.

Had a few good passes, tall guy, a bit out of shape which is understandable. Pretty solid debut.

Agreed. Thought it was an impressive debut for a bloke who had only been at the club 24hrs and was well short of match fitness.

I thought we looked like we had a natural looking shape in midfield for the first time in a long time.

Looking forward to seeing a mid 3 of Gibson, Fellani and Rodwell. With Fellani holding, Rodwell and Gibson should be able to take turns bombing forward....
