I'm not sure his age matters so much, he's no speed merchant anyway, so I think, as a centre back he has a good few seasons in front of him yet. If 4.5 mill. is indeed the magic number, then, provided his wage demands are reasonable and that he accepts he will not necessarily be an automatic first choice, then I would say go for it.

It all depends what our budget is for the summer. If it's ample, then sure, bring CC in. But if it's limited as I suspect it will be, I'm not sure whether we can afford to spend a chunk on a reserve centre back.

If we want to option of playing 5 at the back/wingbacks, he’s a no brainer for £4.5m. We could get that back from Keane alone. If it’s 4-4-2 I’m far from convinced by him. Squads do need flexibility and options though.

I would sign him up for two. I would consider three. It's an inexpensive solution to an immediate problem, and CBs tend to hang on longer than most.

I wouldn't love it. The alternatives are sign someone younger up at a price, hunt for the next Tarkowski and pray we hit, or keep a CB we know doesn't work. I would not count on another hit like Tarkowski, and this is not a position I want to commit significant resources to this summer.
Longer term, as he's quite a vocal player, any use as a coach?
