This is a key point for me. He has made a few hints over recent weeks that no matter what the circumstances where he wanted to change the squad and the culture within it over the summer. A number of other teams do go with 3 at the back and we should have a plan A and a plan B so it's possible certainly with Branthwaite coming back in who has pace about him to add to the backline.

Thats were I’m coming from really mate, it’s the variance it could offer us, we also need two wingers and two fullbacks, wing backs and three at the back forgives a lot of sins - or at least options.

Shocked if maupay will be still here if he cant get a game when we dont have a cf and need win the game. Then he never will, we will loose money on him but hopefully get 10 mill maybe
If he goes, fine. If he stays then he will have to play....when he does play...as part of a two upfront. He's been asked the impossible this season.

Dyche needs to drive this summer's recruitment. Back him and get players in that he wants. Another chance to build the squad to suit our managers needs and bring g some balance to the squad... oh, and sign a striker ffs.

Maupay will go. Was potentially off in January to Salernitana, defo a move on the cards for him.

Begovic - Likely hell get another year extension?
Lonergan - Meh.
Mina - confirmed leaving, which is sad but wages dont justify the minutes, or lack of.
Coleman - probably getting a year extension if his injury isnt finishing him off?
Vinagre - most pointless loan signing made ever, leaving.
Coady - Nobody really knows if he'll be bought at the moment.
Branthwaite - takes Mina's spot in the squad
Nkounkou - Apparently st etiennce are triggering the release so they can sell for profit.
Townsend - contract finished, played his last game for us and possibly his last in football.
Davies - would have signed an extension by now if it was happening, believe he is off.
Warrington - takes Davies's spot in the squad.

Squad with the potential alterations above due to loans/contracts ending

1Jordan Pickford (G)
15Asmir Begovic (G)

2James Tarkowski (D)

21 players remaining there, thats with question marks of Onana's, Holgate's, Keane's, Maupay's future. That would take us down to 17 if all four left. As shown this season, desperate reinforcements needed. Also not sure Simms will have much of a future. The following issues (from a numbers perspective).

GK - 2 - Would need a third, ideally Begovic becomes that third one and we get a goalkeeper to challenge JP or be ready to take over.
RB - 1 - two if Coleman extends, however big issue with injury proneness here.
CB - 5 - If Holgate/Keane leave we'd have to look to replace with at least one.
LB - 1 - Desperately need an upgrade on left back.
MC - 4 - including Doucoure, personally think we'd need to upgrade here though with some extra technical quality.
Wingers/Widemen - 3 - 3 to cover to positions, would need at least one wide attacker, need more pace and more consistency.
ST - 3 - Would expect this to go to at least 2 with Maupay gone, so would need to recruit 2 strikers personally, if DCL can stay somewhat fit and get 20-25 games next season, that way we would have options and not rely on a winger up top!,

Summary to this, assuming FFP has now loosened a bit with us saving massively in last 2 years, it's a BIG BIG chance to vitally improve and refresh the squad, and press the reset button.

I know it seems obvious that we need a striker onvthe summer but it would not surprise me at all if we didnt. Amazing the board are still there, Thelwell and co also. We may have survived etc but Jabba is still sitting presiding over his favourite play: ‘Waiting For Godot’…..

Unpopular opinion but I'd consider any big offers for Pickford.

He's been great last couple of seasons and won us important games/points.

But I just think a really big offer (Chelsea, Spurs, Utd) could get us the striker/winger we need.

The other thing I'd say his distribution (one of his biggest assets) is less important in Dyche set up.

Same goes for Onana if we got really big offer.

Now we are safe not spending 40m+ on the forwards linked that ended up at soton & bournemouth is a huge help in ffp and general spending terms. They are all looking bottom half quality on too much money.

Disagree, he shouldn't, what if he gets sacked next season then we are stuck with Dyches signings. It should be driven by Thelwell as he should know what we need as that's his job.

He should choose the players to fit A system and then employ managers that work within it with the players available.

James Rodriguez an Ancelotti signing, Ancelotti leaves we hire Benitez, Benitez tells him he isn't in his plans. 200K a week down the swanny for a player that wont be used.

Rondon, Benitez signing, Lampard manager Rondon not in his plans, rinse and repeat BTW all this while we have DoF which is criminal.

All of this is wrong.

We will sign a striker.

And the Board & Kenwright are gone.
