We don't need 6 CBs with 4 of them being bad options. Don't sign Coady, sell someone and let Branthwaite be the understudy/5th option.
No, we dont need 6 CBs, attempt to sell some of the others.

I get it, we, you, me, dont rate our CBs, they arent very good, but I suspect we have limited funds this window, so using our money wisely should be something we do.

Genuinely not sure either player would fetch 4.5m. However at that point the consideration becomes years on contracts. When do those two players have to leave versus what Coady would be stuck on? The goal should be to no longer have any of them.

Coady for £4.5m

We would get more than £4.5m for Keane and Holgate/Godfrey combined.

It's also 1 wage vs 2

They all have 2 years left

Yes exactly and 4.5m for Coady is very much unwise. It's a smaller number relatively but it is a material number for us.

I'm not sure we would get that much for anyone but maybe Godfrey. Holgate and Keane are BAD players and Keane is old too.

You just said we wouldnt get much for Holgate, Godfrey and Keane.

So what would you do?
I'd not sign Coady, I'd sell whichever of Keane or Holgate I can dump on someone the fastest and I'd bring Branthwaite back in. Sorted for a year. And then next summer the other of the crap ones goes along with Tarkowski and we sign someone to play CB that can actually run and proactively stop attacks.

It’s not just about fee either it’s also about wages.

He is on a healthy wage and whether that’s value with him not being favoured.

I suspect the lad himself will gave doubhts about the move given he hasn’t played -the reason he left Wolves in the first place.

Coady will not be starting regularly at this level again

Coady for 4.5m as a back up CB is definitely good business, especially as the rumour of his other option is Sheffield United so wages won’t be mega

Southgate takes him along with England just for his leadership so with Mina on his way we need strong figures in the squad and Coady is a good one on the cheap
