2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

About the only positive thing in the past two games is Calvert Lewin playing, looking sharp and not getting injured. He makes a huge difference when he plays, the problem is, we are so starved of creativity, he will only be feeding off scraps. This really is an Everton team bereft of any attacking quality. The worst Everton team I've seen, hands down.

cynical opinion but he’s only trying now so he can get a move when we go down
Even if that's true, is it a negative? If he scores the goals that keep us up, we'll be financially better off; if he scores the goals that keep us up, his stock goes up.

That'll mean we're financially better off. Regardless of his motives, I'll be applauding him if he scores goals that get us the victories we need.

Good championship striker
If he can stay fit then great but it's a huge risk for me. the only other options will be Simms and Cannon. Cannon looks decent and has had plenty of praise during his time down there and scored goals but I'm not 100% convinced on Simms although he did score goals there. Should Calvert Lewin end up leaving (cost cutting or whatever else) then we could do a lot worse than Joel Piroe at Swansea, only 23, scored 22 last season and 18 this season. He gets goals at that level and can play across the front 3.

Remember the one season he was good. Stood in the box and had crosses pumped at him all game? We have McNeil who can put a decent ball in, the manager then plays iwobi, Godfrey and mykolenko who couldn’t cross the road. It’s beyond belief. Play to his strengths and he might have half a chance of doing something.
