The Oldies Thread

Today I told my boss that I am retiring, informed HR that my last day will be 31 July this year. I have to give 4 months notice. Going to work for myself for a couple of years as I am not ready to put my feet up. Feels good to have made the decision and to have taken the first step.

Good for you, mate. Hope it all works out well for you ;)

Weaning yourself off full time working by reducing your days/hours over a couple of years is good.

Know too many people who have gone straight from 5-day a week working to full retirement and they've become so disorganised.

I packed in full time about 5 years ago and went freelance consulting for 18 months and then fell onto a part time job that averages 20-25 hours a week - perfect as it keeps a few quid coming in, keeps me active and stops me sitting around bone idle.

Anyone on here had a hip/knee replacement ? And if so how long as it lasted?. I had a hip replacement 5 years back because of arthritis, best thing I ever had done as I was in awful pain, walked with a limp and limited to what I could do. Couple of weeks back we had a bus strike in West Mids for a week so had to walk everywhere, over the 5 days I clocked up 98.4 mile, since then I got the awful hip pain and stiffness again, I'm wondering if I wore tge new hip out?
