Defo.

Pickford makes some amazing saves, but Begovic does the bread and butter of goal keeping so well. I think he adds calm to the defence.
Top class keeper, which makes me wonder why on Earth he was willing to play second fiddle at a struggling Premier League team. Still, happy he's here.

In terms of injury: our strength is that we have - relative to others down there - a lot of CMs and and CBs. Obviously Dyche has tried in recent weeks to start with the same players and get it settled...even to the extent he looks loathe to change it until late on in a game. But we have Garner to come back in and Patterson can be used in an emergency out wide-right, I believe. I think we're ok unless Coleman and Tarkowski pick up injuries that keep them out any spell. Even the GK situation is under control. I think Begovic does a very decent stand in job for Pickford.
.... Dave?

Blink twice if you're in trouble.

On tonight's games: if S'ton dont get at least a draw I cant make a case for them. Brighton should beat Palace. A month ago Brighton drew at Palace but absolutely battered them. 17 shots and 7 on target. If that ends in a Palace defeat tonight it's 5 points from 33 for them. Who knows what effect that's having. They have to come out of that tailspin soon. I think they will, but we should seriously be targeting them to get in front of and stay in front of.

Well, I've said in the past that he's probably better off further up the pitch. He should be kept well away from the back four, I know that much. He cost us this season against Chelsea, Forest, Leeds and Wolves. They were points squandered that heavily contributed to placing us in this mess.

Indeed. Formerly Dolphins v Glaziers.

Every day a school day!!

On Christmas Eve 1975 a group of Brighton fans was out in the city celebrating Christmas. The group included Derek Chapman, who would become a director of the club in 1999.

Sat around a table in the Bo’sun pub in West Street, a popular haunt for Brighton fans, the friends recalled a game three months earlier when they had travelled to promotion rivals Crystal Palace.

Despite winning 1-0, they had been outsung by their opponents as Jeff Wells, who was in the group, admitted in
a report in the Brighton Argus at the time.....

....Over another pint the group looked out of the window to see a familiar sight in Brighton, a few seagulls scavenging for food.

It was a lightbulb moment, the Seagulls was much easier to chant, as the group demonstrated that evening.
Soon the whole pub joined in, and just a couple of months later the terraces were picking up on it as well.

Derek Chapman, future club director said: “We didn’t really mean to give Albion a nickname. All we were trying to do was have a go at Palace and find a chant that could drown their fans.”

And that they most certainly did.

On 24 February 1976, Crystal Palace travelled to the Goldstone Ground as both teams battled for promotion.

A packed crowd of 33,000 Brighton fans met Palace’s ‘Eagles’ with a retort of ‘Seagulls’.

Well, I have a soft spot for Palace probably due to Alan W and also because I still think their early 70s away jersey was cool.

As long as Everton stay up, I will be happy to see Palace also survive, although recent form has been very poor.

Some needle tonight I expect.

What was it like? I had a look on historical football kits but they don't list Palace's change kits.

This is the one I had in mind.
