I'm of the opinion that confidence and consistency is everything with this group of players. It will trump the lack of an effective target man.

If we get a win next week against Villa then it'll prove to me that Dyche has got the type of consistency Lampard could never have got and that the confidence of these players is ramped right up and will fire us out of this mess.

I've said for the past few weeks that we have a better quality squad than 6 or 7 teams in this league, and we do. They just need the plan put in front of them and to believe in it.

Beat Villa and I for one am going to be very confident about our survival.
Spot on, Dave. Consistency is key at this point in the season given our situation. If we can play consistent sound football, we will be okay. I feel we are in good hands with Dyche. And like you said, beat Villa, and I too am very confident about our survival. On to the next one.

Every point is there to be played for. When we go to Arsenal, that is not an "expected defeat". That is a chance to take a surprise point. Or three. Call it a bonus, if you like, but we cannot just write it off as a loss. Every single point is critical now. All should be fought for. With belief.
Exactly. Got to think of Arsenal away as an opportunity: they won’t be particularly relishing playing us under Dyche, and if we frustrate them like we did a couple of weeks ago it’ll be a nervy ground. Home advantage can be flipped on it’s head in a situation like that.

The thing that has impressed me most about Dyche is that he has come in here and assessed the players, he fairly quickly came to the conclusion that most of us had drawn long ago...They are just not capable of playing the kind of possession based football Lampard wanted them to. He has come up with a plan to suit the players he has, rather than trying to shoehorn the players into the system he wishes they could play.

If we had a centre forward who was a competent target man I would be confident that we would stay up comfortably under Dyche. In the absence of that player I still think Dyche has a chance of coming up with a way to get the points we need. If he does, they really better sort out the centre forward situation as soon as the summer window opens.

If we stay up, there is huge work to do to make us competitive again.

Spot on, Dave :coffee:

Im not saying it's all sound. But our points return was way worse closer to the season and I recall a lot of people saying no manager could get these players winning games, well at least we have a fighting chance now and that's sonething to hold on to.
Yes I remember that quote well too....

We are closer to where we were at this point last season but still behind, probably more confident after yesterday but nothing or 1 point from Villa and Arsenal could put us straight back in the zone.

100%

We are now capable of getting something from the next 6 games. I think we need 9 points from those games myself. The obvious concern is goalscoring but hoefully Dyche can find a way for us to grind out results until Calvert-Lewin is fit and he can get the likes of Doucoure contributing. I'd take three 1-0's and a draw from those games right now.

We pulled a couple of unexpected results out of the fire last season down the stretch but there were some real stinkers too like Southampton away. We are going to have to pick up away from home. Games like Forest and Crystal Palace need to be won

Can’t believe how a professional footballer in the premier league produced that. One of the worst one on ones I’ve ever seen. See more composure in kids footy on a brutal Sunday morning.

…for a professional footballer he doesn’t actually kick a ball very well, especially useless on his left. It’s more commonplace these days with emphasis on athleticism. Onana is another who‘d struggle to hit a shot up Everton Brow but he offers so much.
