Would sell him in the summer for a good offer, sadly. Even if we stay up, we are years away from being in a position where a player and/or agent would think that we're a club they could achieve things. No chance he signs any extension.

We were so stupid not cashing in on Gordon in the summer and got lucky Newcastle came back in for him. Get a good fee for this lad, wish him well and reinvest the money wisely. And try picking up a few more really talented kids whilst you're at it.

This post is highly contradictory.

So we have to sell because the player and his agent won’t think he can achieve things here. Then use the money to buy more kids who’s agents might think the same ?

I think he’s got the makings of a 1st team player. The loan abroad playing European football aswell will do his development no harm. We can evaluate his progress in pre season before making my any hasty decisions.

Reinvest?

Wisely?

This is Everton we're talking about, yanno.

I think what Paul is suggesting is selling Branthwaite and trying to buy a few kids of the profile he was when we signed him. Buy for £1m at 17, sell for £15-20m at 20. It's a very smart way of doing business if you can pull it off which in our case might be the biggest if ever.

What use are these £1m 17-year olds to us at the minute. If they’re really good at 17 they’re not £1m

It's just business, it's what lots of (smart) clubs do. Buy young and unproven, develop them properly, sell for a profit. Repeat process.

The days of getting emotionally attached to players who become mainstays for a long time are gone sadly. We should just view everyone as assets whom will move on eventually whilst filling the club's coffers.

At least we have sent him on the type of loan whereby his value has increased and he’s being exposed to quality at the same time.
