4-4-2 Under Dyche - is this the Answer?

I'll be honest, 442 is only an option if we bring in another target man striker. Because relying on Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a) fitness and b) form is suicidal.

Preferably there'd be a more mobile striker coming in too. Maupay running in behind, lol.
Yeah, if we can only get two at this stage then we probably need to prioritise another 9 and then maybe a pacy winger who can also play inside off the target man to give us a range of options. If we get the Gordon money in quickly then Beto and Sulemana look like good options.

There is a video of Dyche talking about his 442 or 4411 tactic. He more or less admits that you have to go long with this in the premier league because 9 times out of 10 your midfield 2 are outnumbered in the middle of the park, so the basic play would be Pickford rolling the ball out to Tarkowski, he launches it forward to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and then Maupay and the wide players will be coming inside to pick up the 2nd ball and make chances. Welcome to Dyche Ball!

Rather that than the side to side passing along the back 4.

Not sure how it'll work really, maybe...

Pickford
Coleman Coady Tarkowski Mykolenko
Iwobi Gana Onana Gray/McNeil
Dominic Calvert-Lewin Maupay
Obviously still desperate for a few new players
Possibly Keane back in. Dyche is a big fan. Someone better off dcl then maupay

The one that gives us the best shot of avoiding relegation.

It's a pretty simple answer.

If you're not interested in discussing formations, it's probably not the thread for you.

I will discuss formations if you like, have never been keen on some of Lampard's set ups. Have always preferred 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 but never 3-5-2 for example.

Pickford

Patterson Tarkowski Mina Mykolenko

Iwobi Garner Onana Gray

Maupay

Calvert Lewin

If we could get a genuine upgrade on Maupay and Gray in the window then that team could stay up.

Think 442 could work well support for DCL up top he can stay central let someone else do the running, long balls and got to be winning the second ball this squad can’t place nice football need to start winning games and fast if that means winning ugly or boring then fine, seen a few videos with former pros talking about how good a man manager Dyche is never seen a bad word said about him so hopefully he gets a tune out of this squad massive task but we can hope, desperate for a couple of players at least, ziyech would be a welcomed addition we really need someone with a bit of creativity in the middle.
