January Transfer Window 2023

This is actually what’ll send us down though.

Fair point - if we go down, I'll look back at those two signings as being big reasons why. Not so much because of how bad they are (and they are both bad), but because of the fact that money was tight and spending what little we had on the likes of those two meant we ended up in a situation where we were scratching around for pennies down the sofa to fund loan deals for players in the positions that those two play

The DOF can only sign players if 1. The funds are there and 2. The financial rules allow it.

This conspiracy the fans have from Walsh through to Big Kev that our DOF's just sit off playing table tennis in between power naps is just silly.

None of this will help us right now as we look to stay in the Premier League. The summer is utterly irrelevant right now, we cannot plan for what’s going to happen in the summer.

There will need to be two plans for the summer. Don't really need to elaborate on that

Look at it another way - do you really think we would be in the bargain basement trying to get loan deals for Elanga and Danjuma if there actually was money to spend?
It's all relative. I don't think we should go and get either of those players permanently tbh even if we had tons of cash to spend. There's nothing wrong with doing loan deals.

But we knew that, so you can still try and get them tied up early. They've had FOUR MONTHS, and included in that was an unprecedented break with 6 weeks of no club football to deal with.

And again, just to add to this, we have even less money than we did because they (manager, DoF, board) chose to spend £25-30m on Maupay and McNeil.

It's not about funds. We know we're skint.

You can still get your business done. There's no excuse for it.

Still no head of recruitment officially appointed. It was ridiculous not to have one in the summer. It's even more ridiculous to have not had one in place well before a crucial January window. And that is on Thelwell, because he's the one who has been leading the hiring process.

I'd say even more so than Lampard.

Although he hasn't helped himself tactically & formation wise he's been badly let down in the striker department.
He needs help.

One of the reasons he needs help is because he isn't very good.

If they weren't going to help him with decisive signings, they should have sacked him in November.
