Despite my often conflicted relationship with them I love the club but the idea we’re a Big club , is getting further and further away each day .

We’re deep in a relegation battle and In our last 9 years We’ve finished
16/10/12/8/8/7/11/11/5 , it’s almost the epitome of mediocrity . We still have a history of trophies that puts us 8th in the all time list but just below us - Newcastle, Blackburn , forest , Sunderland & Sheffield Wednesday . If you take away the recent Saudi takeover you’d struggle to call any of them big clubs and that’s our company .

The ineptitude of this current board have squandered our history , the legacy of the great sides that went before not to mention a huge amount of cash . We are The only member of the original big 5 to be no longer ‘relevant ‘ ,mwe’ve been usurped by new comers like Chelsea , city and now even Newcastle .

Everton will always be a huge club to me but to those outside and certainly to those who aren’t blues and are under 40 I think putting ourselves out there as a big club is getting to be a harder and harder sell and that’s heartbreaking. Maybe if we survive and the new ground provides some impetus that narrative might change but that could well be wishful thinking .
I really don't give a fig about the "big club" tag - what does that even mean? I worked with a Man City fan during the time Shinawatra owned them, and he surprised me by saying he had never thought of Everton as a big club. I just put that down to his youth and ignorance of our history.

However it shows that perception is highly subjective and often wide of the mark. It no longer matters to me whether Everton is seen as a big club, it will always be my club, even if it sinks without trace.

We are going down I just can’t see us staying up, DCL will be out injured again soon and Gordon cares more about his hair cut then what he puts on the pitch

There might just be 3 worse teams at the end you know. Even with how tragic we are. Not a chance Wolves or West Ham go down.

Bournemouth are certs for the drop and then Leeds will go down I reckon, can't see Marty Bird saving them this year. Southampton are going down unless they change manager again, which I can't see.

Southampton will deffo change manager again I think. If we don’t get Dyche they’ll bring him in around February. This little dweeb they’ve got now looks miles out of his depth.

He is a good manager, the job he did at Luton was excellent given the resources but he defo should have gone to a bigger championship club for a while before stepping up to the PL.

Southampton are certs unless they sack Jones and even then it's a big ask given the state of their squad.

Goals dried up for Bournemouth now although two of their games back since have been Chelsea and Man. United away.

The thing with Leeds is they do have goals in them and so they can always scramble wins when they need to especially as they play on the front foot. Someone on here made a great point a few weeks back, 1-1 at RS and it would be 11 players camped on the edge of their box going into injury time, Leeds went and scored a 90th minute winner so they roll the dice a little bit more than others.

Not sure about West Ham. I expected them to pick up but their results remain poor, 1 point from Brentford at home and Leeds away really isn't good enough and they were hanging on near the end at Elland road. I can see Wolves beating them next game and Moyes being on the brink.

Can see West Ham going for Dyche.

Southampton will change again but even then I think it's too late for them. I reckon if we beat them (I doubt we will) then he's gone.

He did go to a bigger Championship club in Stoke a few years back

Was a total disaster by all accounts
Oh I know but Stoke are far from an easy club to manage, they have huge resources yet remain in the championship which would suggest other issues are at play there.

Is just a massive game next week that we need the 3 points and then try to get on a run to create space. The club is not finished atm is horrible that us fans have to see this again. But again we have to push this team on and call the board out for changes

All we've really got to show for ourselves post the 1980s/1995 is our permanency in the top flight. Comparable clubs like Villa, Leeds, Newcastle and West Ham have had spells out the top flight in the last 10 years. Leeds had 15 years out the PL until recently and that takes a big hit to your standing with a whole generation. But then people watch the PL but they're watching an underdog Everton side playing bad football year after year just trying to dog out results any way they can. That does little to your standing either.
