Says it all really

I don’t think it’s unrealistic as a fan to expect a man getting paid 30k a week upwards to at least be able to move, control or pass a football.

Lay off the fans you whopper. They didn’t just get humiliated 4-1 by Brighton or get thumped by Brentford l.
I don’t think player pay is a licence to hammer their confidence no matter what

‘Whopper’ (?) - more ad hominem points?

Managers wont get time to build here.
They're expected to turn water into wine with what they have.
Bizarre take this, when the fans haven't even turned on a bloke who's won 3 games all season, blamed them for a recent defeat, and looked generally clueless for he entire year he's been in charge. The whole 'the fans are to blame' things is becoming a parody of itself now.

I'm not finished with Lampard yet.

Mainly because I don't think anyone we could realistically get can come in right now and do better.

I think we'll give a decent account of ourselves on Friday, despite everything. Goodison wasn't a pleasant place yesterday and I think the players will be better away from there.

I think Lampard will be given the Southampton game to get a win, providing Friday isn't an embarrassment (which it could yet be).

If we don't beat Southampton, that will be curtains I'm sure of it.

What a dreadful mess we're in.

He has lots in common with Walker. Both "kept us up" in their first season...

To be fair to Walker, at least he'd actually achieved something in the game by building that excellent Norwich side.

I dont think he built that norwich side. He wasnt norwich manager that long. That side were more or less already there.

i don’t think that’s quite what I said. I said the minimum to expect is that they can move, receive and pass a football and put a bit of effort in.

If that’s your full time job, it’s a minimum requirement.

The fans pay the money that in turn pays for said players wages, if the fans don’t see the effort they’ve every right to boo because every one of us would give a limb to be out there wearing the shirt
Can the players help being bad at football?

I understand entirely the frustration - I feel it intensely. But I’m not sure getting on their backs actually helps anything.

The first 5-10 mins of the game, they started well. Energy and having a go trying to score being competitive. Fans were behind it in full voice.

Then 1-0 down and it'd evident whatever lampards ideas were are not working. Everyone can see it.

We get to half time no changes made.

It gets to 3 or 4-0 before a change is made.

It's become a repeat of the Bournemouth games. The way he is setting us up is not working, it's not even coming close to working.

People can see it from miles away. No one has any clue what he's trying to do with the team, what style of play is ours? 4-3-3 is a formation for ruthless attacking with pace and moving the ball quick

Fast passing and patterns of play and burning down the wings, we aren't doing any of this. The players are so slow on the ball, when a runner goes they never get the pass.

I think Frank is probably over thinking his tactics if anything and we just need to play basic bloody football, we would have far better results IMO

I think this is extreme to call the players mercenaries - and highlights the issue we have re lack of understanding and empathy

I agree the problems are long running - relating to ownership and some (but obviously far from all) fans
Empathy?! How can a run of the mill football fan empathise with someone who earns more in a week than most people earn in two years?!

Do you think players like Mina play for the club because they love it?

Giving him Southampton is suicide. 20th placed Wolves beat us and they were terrible. Southampton will walk through us too.

I can't believe Lampard said he was confident of turning it around seeing as we had a 6 week break and served up the performance against 20th placed Wolves
