What are the symptoms mate? Like a heavy cold or more flu like?

had a heavy cold when I was up in Liverpool in the summer, but had 2 negative tests. But 1 of my mates tested positive and the other wasn't even ill.
More flu than cold. Wild temperature swings, dizziness, headache and sore throat.

The worst now is that the incessant cough has my throat red raw. My chest is full of gunk which of course makes the cough worse.

I have zero appetite and that along with lack of sleep (due to coughing) has left me only able to lie in bed so far.

Still though, a few pounds off before Christmas is not to be sniffed at.

Good afternoon lovelies. Hope you are well and those who are poorly are feeling better. Excellent news about the rs. In Carlo we trust?.

I agree with you @Barnfred 55 about the COVID inquiry. It will be brutal. I'm so bloody ( mild word) annoyed about Matt Hancock being on I'm A Celebrity. Let's not forget the decisions he took that probably killed thousands of people - discharging folk into care homes who were positive, the PPE/ track and trace fiasco. But here is cashing in on it....oh and he cheated on his missus. Not that I watch it, I find Ant and Dec nauseating - never was so much achieved with so little talent. Phew! Feel better for that. ?

I have foolishly agreed to host a team buffet on Wednesday. Not my current team bit my previous team - we are all scattered into different areas of the business now. Anyway we were reminiscing about the spectacular amounts of food we managed to eat on a daily basis whilst in the office and were trying to think how we could do it again. The words ' I'm in on my own, why don't you come here' came out of my mouth before I could stop them! So on Wednesday I'm looking forward to Ray's trifle, Debs' Stilton and spinach tarts, Wendy's potato wedges, John's nibbles from M and S and all sorts of other goodies. Not sure what I'm making yet. Should be fun.

Still not too worried about Everton, Saturday was awful but we're getting there. I still think that come the end of the season we'll be OK. Hoping for two wins against Bournemouth this week.

I watched the first episode of that Blue but haven't seen it since. I enjoyed the one I saw so need to catch up. Obviously racism is still a big issue now, but I agree it was on a completely different level when we were growing up in the 60s, 70s and 80s. I cringe at some of the things I heard and saw, including at every football match I went to. Haven't watched This England yet, but it's also on my list. The politicians lacked leadership and the senior civil service and health officials made wrong calls consistently over the first few months, and of course each one they made probably resulted in thousands more deaths. I'm sure the findings in the public enquiry are going to be absolutely brutal.

Did you finish Bulletproof mate?. I actually watched the first series again after you mentioned it. I'd forgotten how much of that was filmed in Liverpool, although obviously set in London. Ashley Waters is also in a series called Top Boy, a hard hitting but violent drama about youth gangs in London. If you can find it on your TV Gizmo it's very very good. It's not a comfortable watch though plus there's 4 seasons.
Hi Fred I tried to watch top boy because we fell in Love with the actors in Bulletproof -until I read the press on Noel Clarke ( Aaron) although I am not judging him yet -but no smoke wothout fire ! I am an old prude sometimes and I don't like the idea of showing kids getting drawn into drugs
Yes I know it happens everyday but my belief is that showing these kinds of programs makes it seem normal and again I know it is but they glorify it and I don't want to watch that .It stems from protecting my kids from druggies as they were rampant in Everton .
I once had my car written off in flames outside the house but it was a "drunken driver that had just not seen my car and ploughed into the back of it setting it in flames.Anyway when in the proccess of getting a police report to then claim on my insurance I had to speak to an officcer in the bridewell who recognised my address and said he had just been near there and the had been to a dealer's house who had more than £1,000,000 in notes in a large binbag/s and told them he was a gambler on won it on the horses !
It turned out there was a witness to the crash and he told me where the guy out of the car had run so I told the police he was red haired and which house he was in and he had seemingly broken his arm ,they went into the house and found him but the test on the hair in the indentation in the broken windscreen "Had not proven conclusively that he was the driver :)
The man he told us "was " driving ,funnily had no driver's licence and black long hair and was a known addict .

Added a new dish to my inventory last night, my take on penne arrabiata but using chorizo, which of course is Spanish. It was very tasty though I may have made it a bit hot even for my tastes. Maybe the fresh chillies and hot smoked paprika were enough heat, without throwing in the extra shakes of chipotle sauce. lol Deffo making it again though.

Having the neighbours around for tea this week whilst their kids are away on their cruise. I'm cooking Chinese for them, my special fried rice, strange taste chicken and mangetout in oyster sauce. I'll be toning down the heat a bit but hopefully they'll like it. We'll probably watch a DVD afterwards. Hope that turns out better than the other week.lol
We first had Arrabiata in Mexico at an Italian place and love it ,last week we saw a cookery program where they cooked Salmon with penne in an Arrabiata sauce it is on Letitia's to do list as soon as she can source the blackberries and turnip skins .

Hancock is a spineless fraud. I doubt he made that decision you speak of Anj, and even if it did require his rubber stamp he probably would just have gone with the flow. But his utter lack of leadership allowed it to happen on his watch, which is tantamount to the same thing. I never watch any reality TV now. I used to like Masterchef but I don;t even watch that these days.

As long as there aren't any veggies going, I reckon some BBQ spare ribs will go nice at the buffet Anj. Or some bacon ribs if you can get them. Don't see them much these days. As for John, I'd be kicking him into touch. M&S nibbles indeed. lol

Stay strong that man.

Good shout on the ribs. I may even have some in the freezer. Haven't made them for ages. I love bacon ribs. My Uncle Tommy used to cook them and serve them with cabbage and boiled potatoes. Gorgeous. As you say, ypu don't see them much these days.

I thought Top Boy was quite hard hitting blue and didn't glamorise gang culture at all. If I was a young kid growing up in South London I'd be doing my level best to get out of there having watched that. Great TV though, both the story telling and the acting.

It's a difficult one with Noel Clarke. The police didn't press charges but that doesn't mean nothing happened. On the one hand, he's been around for over 20 years and writes, produces and directs as well as acts. If he's as bad as is being made out you'd have thought something would have come out earlier. But, by all account there were several accusations once one emerged. I really don't know. In cases like these you'd wish that there was enough evidence to take him to court so at least a judgement can be made. As it is, it's just limbo. His name is tarnished and probably won't work for a long time, if at all, but neither will any of his alleged victims receive any justice.

They make great pea and ham soup too if you have any left over. A little tip, change the water half way through cooking the ribs otherwise the stock will be far too salty. ;)
