Putting McNeil at LWB is as bad as when we were doing it with Iwobi on the right. Actually maybe worse because McNeil is too slow to defend too.
TBH putting him anywhere on the pitch is incredibly bad, even with Gordon not available. Thankfully now that he's been booked he won't last much longer and DCL or Garner can come on instead.

5-3-2

GK: Pickford
RCB: Tarkowski
CB: Coady
LCB: Mykolenko
RWB: Coleman
LWB: McNeil
DM: Gueye
CM: Iwobi
CM: Onana
ST: Gray
ST: Maupay

Tactically spot on from Lampard and a strong defensive / counter-attacking performance which should have seen us go 2-0 up.

Really weathered the storm in the first 10 minutes, quietened the crowd and limited Spurs.

I wouldn’t normally advocate passing backwards & sideways around our own half / halfway line area, but it’s the right approach: we won’t break Spurs down in their low block and they’re so dangerous on the counter.

Good resilience and good execution of a well thought out tactical plan. Impressed.

This is a case of Frank understanding how lacking we are in certain ways and therefore playing the common strategy that teams that lay low in the league usually attempt. It seldom works though as at some point the defence will be breached due to a mistake. It doesn't help we lack composure to score which would get the most out of this counter attacking method.
His only ambition is not to lose 5:0. That will probably work. Really worth his money the guy.

We should be looking to get both the booked players off partly as precaution but also to change the game. DCL for maupay and either vinagre or garner for McNeil. Move iwobi out wide if we go with garner.

Frustrating. The game plan is being enacted perfectly but there are only so many chances on the counter you get, worried we might have blown our chance.

The difference between this season and last though my fellow toffees. So refreshing to see a team with a backbone.
