Moyes Hails ‘Magnificent’ Response as Everton End Villa Park Run

Everton boss praises preparation, resilience and Thierno Barry after statement away win

David Moyes paid tribute to his Everton players after their disciplined and hard-earned 1–0 victory over Aston Villa, a result that ended the hosts’ formidable home winning streak and underlined the Toffees’ growing resilience under his leadership.

Speaking after the final whistle at Villa Park, Moyes admitted the win had come at an important moment, following what he described as a challenging week for the club. He was particularly pleased with the manner of the performance, praising both the mentality and the work ethic shown from the opening exchanges.

“It was magnificent. It has been a difficult week for us but we have turned it around today with a great performance right from the start. We looked like we were going to give them a game and I think we did for most of the game.

“We put a lot of work in during the week to find a way to combat Aston Villa, we certainly didn’t just turn up and make it happen, we have been at it all week. We knew if we didn’t do something then we would find ourselves in trouble because coming here is never easy.

“Barry delivered today. He followed up, which is what he is supposed to do. I thought his finish was really good.”
