Ahead of this evening’s game against Nottingham Forest, we reflect on some more players who’ve featured for both teams.
3 – Kieran Dowell
An academy product at the Blues, Dowell’s Everton career never really got going. He seemed a promising prospect at one time, but it wasn’t to be.
The midfielder made his Everton debut against FC Krasnodar in the UEFA Europa League, replacing Christian Atsu.
The Ormskirk-born player would not make his Premier League debut until almost two years later. It would be one of only two league appearances he would make for the club.
Perhaps best remembered for a worldie in the friendly against Kenyan outfit Gor Mahia in what was Wayne Rooney’s second Everton debut.
2 – Scot Gemmill
Gemmill spent five years at Goodison Park, making 97 Premier League appearances for the Blues.
The Scot only scored five goals during his time at the club, though he could fire one in from range on occasion.
In April 1999, the midfielder launched an absolute rocket to secure the points in a 3-1 win over Newcastle at St James’ Park. It’s well worth seeking out on YouTube, that one.
1 – Orel Mangala
Mangala spent the 2024/25 season on loan at the Toffees and was a very useful player.
The defensive midfielder made 19 appearances in his solitary season with the club, which was cut short through injury.
The 27-year-old suffered a knee injury against Brighton, ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Returning to his parent club Lyon, the Belgian is yet to make a first team appearance since his return to France.
Perhaps best remembered for a superb strike in a 4-0 Goodison Park win against Wolves in December last year.
Wolves defender Craig Dawson also scored two own goals that day and put himself in the race as Everton’s top scorer.
