The Blues welcome Oliver Glasner’s side to Hill Dickinson on Sunday in what will be a tough test for the Toffees.
The high-flying Eagles are third in the table, just three points off the top. Indeed, the FA Cup holders are playing some excellent stuff.
Everton meanwhile have hit a slump after a positive start to the campaign. A derby defeat followed by League Cup elimination has killed early season momentum.
A disappointing 1-1 draw at home to West Ham last night resulted in a chorus of boos at full-time.
The frustration was compounded by a ridiculous booking for midfielder Kiernan-Dewsbury-Hall. His fifth yellow card of the season, the 27-year-old will now miss Sunday’s game.
While the midfielder’s absence will give Moyes a selection headache, he should reconsider his forward line ahead of the fixture.
Beto has been woeful in recent weeks, and stunk Hill Dickinson out with last night’s display.
The 27-year-old never looked like scoring, or indeed winning so much as a header. His inability to hold up play hampered every attack, and his first touch constantly let him down.
His attitude has always been great, but the simple truth is that he isn’t good enough. This is now his third season in the Premier League, but sadly he still looks way off the pace.
Moyes’ alternative striking option is summer signing Thierno Barry. The Frenchman looks raw and we’ll likely have to be patient as he develops.
He exhibited his potential in the 2-0 win over Brighton, holding the ball up and linking up play. However, it may be too early for him to lead the line every week.
Iliman Ndiaye has started the campaign on the right wing, bringing his usual flair and poise to proceedings.
There’s little doubt he’s the best finisher at the club, and could be utilised centrally to maximise his goalscoring ability.
His first touch is excellent, and his skill and grace can draw in fouls in dangerous positions.
Furthermore, the Senegal international could drop deep and drive at the opposition centrally. This worked to great effect during last season’s 3-2 win over Spurs.
The 25-year-old was our top scorer last season, with nine goals. He already has two so far this campaign.
In his place on the wing, young Tyler Dibling could be introduced to the starting XI. The summer signing looked composed and comfortable in possession during last night’s cameo.
We may miss Ndiaye’s defensive endeavour should he play upfront. The former Marseille man does track back to assist his defence.
However, with current forward options not working, Moyes has to try something new.
