Everton manager David Moyes has spoken about the development of summer signing Adam Aznou.
The 19-year-old arrived from Bayern Munich during the summer, but has yet to make a first team appearance.
This is despite senior left-back Vitalii Mykolenko struggling to maintain his fitness in the opening weeks of the season.
Aznou has struggled with fitness himself since his arrival, but was an unused substitute on Tuesday’s defeat to Wolves.
Seamus Coleman began the game on the left side of defence. Indeed, he is the second player to play out of position at left-back this season.
Midfielder James Garner has also fulfilled a role at left-back on the opening day defeat to Leeds United.
However, Moyes insists that Aznou has ‘got a bit to do’ before he’s ready to start a first team game for the Toffees.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of West Ham’s visit to BMD, Moyes said of the Moroccan: “He’s got a bit to do before he’s probably going to be ready for the first team at the moment.
“But we were aware of that when we brought him in.”
PATIENCE REQUIRED FOR YOUNG AZNOU
Aznou was one of nine incomings during the summer window, but we are yet to see what the youngster is capable of.
The Blues have been linked with a move for free agent Sergio Reguilon, who was let go from Spurs last season.
The Spanish international would bring experience to a position that has proven to be a problem area for Moyes so far this year.
However, the former Real Madrid player is said to prefer a return to his homeland after a challenging period in England.
Meanwhile, we will have to be patient with Adam Aznou, though there are high hopes for the young man.
