NBA Legend Jason Kidd Joins Everton’s Ownership Group

Everton Football Club have confirmed a notable new addition to their ownership group — NBA Hall of Famer and current Dallas Mavericks Head Coach, Jason Kidd.

Kidd, a 10-time NBA All-Star and one of basketball’s most revered names, has become part of Roundhouse Capital Holdings, which is a member of The Friedkin Group — the consortium that recently acquired a majority stake in Everton.

With an illustrious playing career that includes a 2011 NBA Championship with the Mavericks and two Olympic gold medals (Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008) with Team USA, Kidd has built an equally impressive reputation as a coach. After coaching spells at the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, he returned to Dallas in 2021 and most recently led the team to the Western Conference Championship in 2024.

Speaking on his decision to join Everton, Kidd said:

“I’m honoured to be joining Everton’s ownership at such an important moment: with a new stadium on the horizon and a bright future ahead, it’s a great moment to come on board.”

His arrival is another indicator of The Friedkin Group’s ambition to reshape Everton’s future — both on and off the pitch — with a fresh approach and a global outlook.

Everton Executive Chairman Marc Watts added:

“On behalf of The Friedkin Group and the Everton Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome Jason to our ownership group.

“As one of the NBA’s greatest players and now a successful coach, his knowledge and winning mentality will be an incredible resource for Everton.

“He is a respected leader and household name for many sports fans and will bring a deeper understanding of high performance as we collectively strive to build a brighter future for this storied club.”
