‘Devastating’: Gary Lineker shares Everton ‘cause for concern’ after defeat to Luton

Former Everton forward Gary Lineker has stated there is real concern for the Blues after a fourth consecutive home defeat.

The 62-year-old insists Everton’s inability to pick up a so much as a point at Goodison Park this season is a ‘cause for concern’.

Indeed, after two away wins on the road, Sean Dyche’s side had the chance to build up some momentum with the visit of newly promoted Luton Town on Saturday.

However, the Toffees generously awarded the visitors their first three points of the season as they claimed a 2-1 win at Goodison Park.

Speaking alongside Alan Shearer on Match of the Day, Lineker spoke of Everton’s worrying home form, stating: “It’s a devastating defeat for Everton. That’s four straight defeats at home this season. It’s cause for concern, isn’t it?”

To which Shearer replied: “It’s real cause for concern, yeah. Only scored one goal as well and they’ve got Bournemouth at home next week, so that is a huge game again for them.

But they are creating, just missing so many chances.”

Gary Lineker sums up the atmosphere as Everton settle into worrying run of home defeats

Everton were handed a fairly manageable start to the Premier League season with winnable home fixtures against Fulham, Wolves and Luton Town within the opening weeks.

However, Sean Dyche’s side have lost four consecutive home games, managing just one goal, which came courtesy of a fortuitous VAR decision.

There will be considerably more testing fixtures to come and with so many points dropped already, we will likely suffer through another year of praying that there are three worse teams in the league than us.

It’ll be another week of rallying cries and the ‘we know we must to better’ rhetoric ahead of Saturday’s clash against Bournemouth, which has already feels like a significant fixture for Sean Dyche just eight games into the season.
