‘Not ready’: Sean Dyche provides fitness update on Jack Harrison ahead of Brentford clash

Everton manager Sean Dyche has provided a fitness update for winger Jack Harrison ahead of Saturday’s trip to Brentford.

Harrison joined the Blues in the summer on a season-long loan from Championship side Leeds United, though injury has prevented him from making his Everton debut.

Indeed, the 26-year-old is out with a hip injury and Sean Dyche has confirmed that he is ‘not ready’ for a return to first team action.

The Everton boss confirmed that the loan signing is ‘back on the grass’ in training, but is not yet ready to feature for the Blues.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference via Everton’s official YouTube channel, Dyche provided an update on Harrison, stating:

“Not [ready to] start, no. He’s back on the grass, had quite a long-term situation. He’s going very well, and his fitness looks good, but not ready to go yet.”

Everton fans will be eager to see Jack Harrison in the starting XI

Harrison’s creativity will be a boost for Sean Dyche’s side once he is available, though it seems we will have to wait a while longer to see the 26-year-old in an Everton shirt.

Fellow winger Dwight McNeil returned from injury during the 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane earlier this month, and Dyche has admitted that the 23-year-old was ‘probably’ brought back from injury a little too quickly.

However, the Everton boss confirmed that the winger is ‘alright’ ahead of Saturday’s trip to the capital. Dyche said: “Dwight’s alright, probably went back in a little bit quick if I’m being honest and I asked a lot of him in the last performance, but he’ll get true fitness coming quickly.

With just one point on the board, Brentford will be a difficult game for the Toffees, though their form has been inconsistent in the early weeks of the season, with three draws, one win and one defeat so far.
