‘I think’: Arnaut Danjuma says Beto is exactly the type of player that Everton need

Everton attacker Arnaut Danjuma has spoken about his new teammate Beto, insisting that the 6ft 4in forward is exactly the type of player the Toffees need.

Beto arrived from Serie A side Udinese in a £26m deal and immediately made an impact, coming on as a second half substitute against Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday.

The Portuguese forward took just 28 minutes to open his goalscoring account, and was unlucky not to double his tally, hitting the post with a bullet header before seeing another goal ruled out for offside.

Indeed, it was a dream debut for the 25-year-old, and fellow new arrival, Arnaut Danjuma, has said he is ‘very happy’ to see Beto line up alongside him.

Danjuma and Beto looked confident Wednesday night and can hopefully bring that confidence back to the PL

Speaking with the Liverpool Echo, the Dutchman said: “I think we are all very happy that he (Beto) is here. Big, strong, quick, and I think we needed a target man as well.

So just for me, as the first one in the attacking line, I knew what was coming, and I committed myself to the process.

For Beto to come and commit himself to the process as well is only beautiful. I have been speaking to him, and he is very determined and motivated, just like me. Hopefully I can make as many goals as possible for him.”

Danjuma’s winning goal on Wednesday night got the loan star off the mark in an Everton shirt and spared Sean Dyche’s blushes after what was a challenging fixture against the League Two opposition.

The victory means the Toffees will face an away trip to Aston Villa in the next round, where Sean Dyche’s side will need to perform better than their last visit to Villa Park if they want to progress any further.
