Newcastle United forward Allan Saint-Maximin has been linked with a move to Everton this summer and the 26-year-old has now made a cryptic post on social media.
As rumours surrounding his future gather pace, the ‘outstanding’ Frenchman has taken to Social Media to make a post that is sure to intensify rumours of a summer exit.
Posting on his Instagram account, Saint-Maximin said: “Work in silence. They’ll know soon.”
The post could well be in relation to the destination of Saint-Maximin’s summer transfer, with reports in 90MIN stating that Everton are interested in the attacker.
However, the report also states that the Blues will face competition from Crystal Palace, Champions League semi-finalists AC Milan, Marseille and perhaps most notably, four sides from the Saudi Pro League.
Indeed, the forward is also the target for Al Nassr, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli, all of whom are under the control of Newcastle’s majority owners.
Allan Saint-Maximin move from Newcastle is a matter of finance, leaving Everton unlikely
The French winger moved to St James’ Park from Nice in a deal worth up to £20m in 2019 and has been a key figure for the Magpies, though his role seems to have diminished in the past 12 months.
The January arrival of Anthony Gordon from Everton in a £45m deal saw competition for attacking places become even more congested, and Saint-Maximin has been heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle for many months now.
While it is not known what kind of transfer fee he would be available for, with two years remaining on his current deal and the cash-rich Saudi Pro league teams sniffing around, Newcastle will likely outprice Everton.
The Toffees will not have the financial clout to compete should the price to be too high, however, if Sean Dyche can attract Saint-Maximin to Goodison Park, he could be a fantastic signing for the Blues this summer.
