Report: 22-year-old Everton player could be used in swap deal for 20-goal striker this summer

Everton forward Ellis Simms could be used as part of a swap deal that could see the Toffees sign Swansea City striker Joel Piroe.

Ellis Simms has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer and has just one year remaining on his current deal with the Blues.

The Swans are keen on the Everton academy graduate, and may be prepared to offer 23-year-old forward Joel Piroe as part of a deal.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Stoke City are also admirers of Simms.

Indeed, it has been reported that Everton want a fee between £7m and £10m for 22-year-old Simms this summer, who scored one goal in 11 games for the Blues last season.

The young forward looked out of his depth in the Premier League at times last season, though his finish in March’s 2-2 at Stamford Bridge was quite accomplished.

However, if Sean Dyche is looking to move the young forward on, recruiting a striker as part of a swap deal would make sense for Everton.

Simms and Piroe swap deal could be beneficial to both club and players

The Toffees desperately need investment in their attacking options and looked to have missed the boat on Coventry City’s Viktor Gyokeres, who is set to join Sporting CP for £18.5m.

Swansea City’s Joel Piroe could be an interesting signing for Dyche, and potentially a significant upgrade on the outgoing Ellis Simms.

The Dutchman scored 20 goals in 45 games in all competitions for Swansea City last year and has scored 44 in total over the past two seasons.

With just one year left on his current contract, it is a deal that seems agreeable to all involved, as Everton acquire their sought-after forward and Swansea recruit an immediate replacement.
