‘Loves the club’: £30m player wants to stay at Everton this summer amid transfer speculation

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford wants to remain at Everton this summer amidst a wave of transfer speculation surrounding the England international.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer with Manchester United considering replacing long-term servant David de Gea.

Indeed, Everton’s financial situation has only intensified rumours, as the club could well have to sell players such as Jordan Pickford and Amadou Onana in order to buy once again this year.

However, Pickford, who joined the Blues from Sunderland in a £30m deal in 2017, is believed to be settled on Merseyside and ‘loves the club’.

As per The Bobble’s Twitter account, Pickford’s agency, CAA Stellar have released a statement about the Everton keeper indicating that he wishes to remain the club’s no. 1.

The statement read: “Jordan is very happy at Everton and very settled with his young family.

He loves the club and will remain at Everton until we are told otherwise. He is excited to get back for pre-season and help push Everton up the table”.

Now, it seems the only way Pickford will leave Everton is if the Merseyside club force him out.

Everton would struggle to adequately replace Jordan Pickford

Pickford was once again instrumental in keeping Everton in the Premier League last season, and if it wasn’t for the performances of the 29-year-old over the past two years, the Toffees would likely be a Championship club now.

Indeed, the England international made the third most stops of any keeper in the Premier League last season and his penalty save against Leicester City’s James Maddison was probably the difference between the outcome of each side’s campaign.

A contract extension in February renewed Pickford’s commitment to the club until the summer of 2027, and if the keeper is happy to remain at Goodison Park, then Everton must ensure he is still our no. 1 next season.
