Ancelotti: An important result

Carlo Ancelotti has praised the spirit of his team to achieve an important result over Leicester City.

Carlo Ancelotti: “An important result and an important performance. It was difficult, the second half was so difficult because we played against a team that’s really strong with good quality and organisation – it was really tough.

“It’s true that we started well. We were 2-0 up, after that we thought more of defence than to attack but this is normal because the three points were really important.

“I have to say the spirit of the team is really good. We are focused in this moment, we are really motivated and so, we have to keep going. We have a really difficult, but really exciting game coming up against Tottenham and we have to be ready.

[On the length of time it took VAR to award Everton a penalty] “It was not a clear penalty, it took time, but it was our first penalty of the season so we can be happy.

“I don’t know [If Everton can quality for Europe], there’s a lot of teams involved, we are happy to be involved and we’d like to be involved until the final game of the season.

[On Richarlison’s injury] “It was a knock on his ankle, he won’t have a problem to recover. I think he’ll be ready for Tottenham”.
