Just the two games for our boys in Royal Blue this month, the not-even-close-to-being-a-thriller draw in the final home game against Southampton and the oh-so-forgettable, excruciating to watch loss away at West Ham.
So as stated, a draw and a loss from two eminently winnable games, and the performances together with the reaction of the incredibly loyal Blues supporters saw the patience of Farhad Moshiri finally run out. Wednesday morning saw the totally expected – except to idiots like Garth Crooks, Kevin Nolan, Tony Cottee and umpteen more clueless football pundits – and justifiable demise of Sam Allardyce as manager.
But let’s not dwell on him, this is about the players and just fifteen of them pulled on the blue shirt in May, so the laundry bill should be considerably smaller, especially as barely anyone broke sweat at West Ham.
With precious little to applaud from the final two games, somewhat understandably the Man of the Match voting wasn’t very brisk, somewhat resembling that of a nailed on bye-election vote but as always, we sincerely thank everyone who cast their vote and brought us to the results that follow.
Seamus Coleman narrowly edged home as Man of the Match against Southampton, whilst Oumar Niasse was head and shoulders the runaway winner against West Ham.
