Davy Klaassen wants to remain at Everton.

The £23.6m summer signing had been frozen out under Sam Allardyce, and the caretaker manager David Unsworth before him, having made three Premier League starts since his arrival from Ajax.

However, with significant changes at Goodison Park this summer – the 25-year-old is determined to force his way into the Everton team.

Speaking to AD in the Netherlands and as reported by Sport Witness, the player’s agent, Søren Lerby, insisted: Klaassen wasn’t ready to walk away from Everton just yet.

“Davy is not someone who gives up quickly. He wants to start the preseason at Everton.”

As much as I’d love for him to succeed I can’t help thinking we’d be best cutting our losses and accepting anything upwards of £15m for him if we can get it.

He might turn out ok but from what I’ve seen he’s never going to be amazing. Sig should be our number 10. Klaassen is going to be a very expensive back up at best.

There is a player in there somewhere, but I doubt he would stand the physicality of League 2 with Tranmere.

Lol imagine if he starts next season a muscle bound beast.

I’ve seen munchkins come back twice their size in the offseason, so anything is possible. It depends on how committed he is to surviving in this league.
