Voice In The Crowd

Hello folks, I’ve been around the Goodison area again, looking for opinions on Everton. This week, I ran into top blue Ken Martin.

Ken, what’s your general feeling after last weeks’ events?

What an odd week we had eh? Hammered out of Europe, but a hard fought, if unconvincing win at QPR did us the world of good. I’ve heard a few dissenting voices since, saying that the QPR win is just “papering over the cracks”, but I disagree, because you can only beat what’s in front of you, and we did on Sunday.

Very true. What’s been the biggest positive this last week?

Aaron Lennon. I like the look of him. I wasn’t too sure at first, but he has a bit of pace, on the right side of 30, and has played well.

What’s your hope for the rest of the season?

I hope that it fizzles out with no drama. I want to reach mathematical safety, then finish top half with maximum points from here, and hold on to Lukaku, mainly.

Just Lukaku?

No, I hope we keep all of our players, but there is a lot of speculation flying around over Kevin Mirallas. He’s seems a bit aloof to the rest of the squad since his penalty incident, and if teams are sniffing round him, I’d sell him. I like him, he’s good, but he’s too inconsistent and while he’s very good, he can be replaced if we get some money for him. But I’d keep Lukaku at all costs.
