Goals from James McCarthy and Romelu Lukaku secure a 2-0 victory and winning end to Everton´s 2013/14 Premier League season.
Robert Martinez, whose side had already surpassed the highest points tally achieved by his predecessor David Moyes, went one better to secure Everton´s biggest total – 72 – since they won the title in 1986-87.
Roberto Martínez opted to rest England World Cup hopefuls Ross Barkley and John Stones, fuelling rumours of their inclusion in Roy Hodgson´s England squad.
Only nine minutes head gone when Lukaku and Steven Naismith opened up the Hull defence to set up McCarthy to make it 1-0.
Everton were also responsible for the other genuine goal threats in the opening 45 minutes, notably when Naismith carelessly sidefooted wide when he met a cross from Lukaku.
Making his final appearance for Everton before returning to Chelsea at the end of his loan stay at Goodison Park, Lukaku was equally indecisive when he failed to get a solid touch to Leighton Baines´s cross
Lukaku was again involved as he showed greater determination than Paul McShane to reach a cross from McCarthy and force a sharp save from McGregor at the foot of the post.
It was a warning that Hull failed to heed and, within 48 seconds of the restart, the striker got the goal he craved to mark his final appearance.
No Hull players had touched the ball when Lukaku accelerated onto a pass from Leon Osman, escaped a clumsy challenge by McShane and beat McGregor from 12 yards.
It effectively decided the match. Everton were content with two goals and created only one other opportunity when Baines was woefully off-target from just outside the area.
