Bonafide Everton legend Dave Hickson has passed away after a short spell in hospital, aged 83.

The “Cannonball Kid” was a prolific goalscorer for the Toffees in the late 40s and throughout the 1950s during two spells with the club.

Hickson was one of the very few players who turned out for all three major Merseyside clubs (Everton, Liverpool and Tranmere Rovers), but Everton was where his heart lay.

“I would have died for Everton, I would have broke every other bone in my body for any other club, that´s how I look at it, you know, if it was that much I would have died for this club.”

R.I.P Dave Hickson, Goodison Hero, 1929 – 2013.
