David Moyes ends his 11-year Everton tenure with a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Everton started well but it was the hosts who took the lead after seven minutes. Tim Howard had a nightmare, fumbling Demba Ba’s shot allowing Juan Mata in to score.
Everton deservedly equalised on 14 minutes. David Luiz lost possession and Steven Naismith took advantage and placed a smart finish by past the advancing Petr Cech.
David Moyes´ men pressed on to take the lead. Darron Gibson saw his shot deflect off Nathan Ake to hit the post, then Petr Cech’s face and then the upright once again.
Kevin Mirallas was then denied by the home keeper and Steven Pienaar curled just over.
Chelsea improved in the second half, with Tim Howard forced into making a good save from Cahill, before seeing Ivanovic misfire and Ba´s curled effort deflected just wide off Distin.
Everton nearly took the lead with 17 minutes remaining, Nikica Jelavic sliding in to stab wide when Leighton Baines delivered.
Minutes later, Chelsea got their winner. Victor Moses laid off Oscar’s cross and Torres slammed home inside the near post from six yards out.
