Fellaini Charged With Violent Conduct

Marouane Fellaini has received a three match ban as retrospective punishment for his headbutt on Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross in the recent 1-1 draw at the Britannia.

Referee Mark Halsey missed the incident during play, but the FA have used their rules on retrospective action to ban the Belgian.

A further two alleged incidences regarding Fellaini in the same match have been dismissed by Halsey as non-violent and will not receive punishment.

Fellaini has until 6pm on Tuesday to appeal the charge, but it is very unlikely that he is going to do so, as the player and manager David Moyes have already acknowledged the severity of the offence and apologised for it publicly.

The three game ban comes despite calls from BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson, an ex-Liverpool player, to ban Fellaini for a much longer period of time.
