Jack Rodwell and his Everton teammates are relishing returning to Goodison Park this weekend after the support they received against Aston Villa last time out.
Goodison was as loud as it has been for quite some time with both players and supporters excelling themselves.
The only thing missing was the result as Villa spoiled the party by claiming a scarcely deserved point in a 2-2 draw.
Despite any pangs of disappointment, there were plenty of positives, and Rodwell says the players are delighted the fixture list has thrown up another home game.
“I think it is really good to be at Goodison again – especially after the way the supporters were at the weekend,†said Rodwell.
“Hopefully it will be the same again as the supporters really pushed us on. After last weekend all the players are looking forward to playing at home again.â€
A win, a draw and a loss – allied with progress in the Carling Cup – has made for a decent start for the Blues.
Rodwell believes three points against Wigan will turn that into a good start.
He said: “We started off poorly against QPR then picked things up in the cup game before maybe getting a bit of a lucky win at Blackburn – but sometimes it takes something like that to kickstart you.
“I thought we played really well against Villa and probably deserved to win. But on the whole it is a decent start – we normally start worse – hopefully we can pick it up again on Saturday but get the three points this time.â€
