"I’m here to score goals…"

Denis Stracqualursi has vowed to make the most of the ´big opportunity´ he has been given at Everton.

The 23 year-old was the leading scorer in the Argentine championship last season after moving to minnows Tigre on loan from Gimnasia de la Plata, managing 22 goals in 35 games.

His scintillating form attracted the attention of Espanyol, Fiorentina and a number of German clubs, but his agent Jorge Cysterzpiller agreed terms with Everton.

Strak-wa-loor-si told evertontv: “I know that Everton has a big history in England and is an important club. I am very excited to be here. It is a big opportunity for me and I will do everything I can to help the team.

“It is a pleasure to be here. It is a big club and I am very happy, I will fight as hard as I can to get in the team and play well.”

Stracqualursi first became aware of the Blues’ interest in him several months ago and was delighted to see that come to fruition with his loan move from Argentine minnows Tigre.

“In April some representatives of Everton were in Argentina and watched one of my games,” he said. “That is where the interest started and from there on they were in touch with me.”

As for as his style of play, Stracqualursi added: “I am a striker who plays in the penalty box. I am good at heading the ball and I am strong but I am also good with my feet. But I am here to get in the box and score goals.”
