Long Overdue

Everton make the short journey across the M62 to Old Trafford in triumphant mood, sitting firmly top of the form table, having won five and drawn two of their last seven Premier League matches.

It´s fair to say we haven´t had the best of times at Old Trafford. United have won 14 and lost none of their last 17 Premier League games against Everton at Old Trafford and have also won their last 12 top-flight fixtures on home soil, with three clean sheets secured in their last four league outings. But let´s not dwell on that…

The most recent encounter between the sides in September ended in spectacular fashion when Everton staged a stunning comeback to score twice in injury-time to deprive Manchester United of victory. But then, we didn´t need to remind you of that one did we?

Turning our attentions back to the present day, and both Ferdinand and Dimitar Berbatov are expected to return for Manchester United after sitting out their draw at Newcastle, but Paul Scholes misses out through suspension,. Owen Hargreaves, Darren Fletcher and Rafael will all sit this one out.

Everton will certainly be without Louis Saha and Marouane Fellaini, but question marks are beside the names of Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta who are both said to be nearing a return and in contention to feature.

Another question mark hovers over John Heitinga, who was replaced against Blackburn having picked up a hamstring injury. Jack Rodwell, who returned from injury with Seamus Coleman against Blackburn last week, would be expected to replace the Dutchman. Evertonians will also find comfort in the news that Victor Anichebe, who scored for the reserves in midweek, also returns to the squad.

Our Prediction:

Man Utd 0-1 Everton. With the pressure off and on the back of a rich vain of form, now is as good a time as any to snatch a long overdue with at Old Trafford. We fancy a determined Jermaine Beckford to score, as he did on his last appearance at Old Trafford for Leeds. The lads over at Paddy Power will offer 125/1, on our prediction, with a free £20 bet for a £10 stake for new customers if you sign up via through us.
