Louis Saha has spoken of his ‘relief’ following a week in which he got back to goalscoring ways in some style.
The Frenchman broke his duck on an electric night at Goodison Park as the Blues deservedly beat high-flying Tottenham 2-1, while he quickly followed that up with another early goal against Scunthorpe in the FA Cup.
It took just three minutes for Saha to strike against Spurs, sending the old stadium into delirium with that noisy, wholehearted support staying with the team for the whole 90 minutes.
And the striker said: “It was a great result and a great performance – we played terrifically. It was a great game to be involved in. The crowd was really behind us and the atmosphere was great, it really helped us. It was a relief to get the goal as I had been searching for one for a while.”
Saha says it is long overdue the Blues now string a few results together – starting with the trip to Liverpool and the next home game against West Ham United on January 22.
He added: “It was about time I got a goal and I was pleased that it helped us to get a win. It is about time we went on a run and got in some good form, we have some big games coming up.”
