You could be right lol :

"Green played a major role in the acquisition of a key 23% stake in the Merseyside club by Planet Hollywood tycoon Robert Earl from Everton board member Paul Gregg, the cinemas and leisure multi-millionare."

"just the culmination of a longrunning relationship with Everton's other major minority shareholder, impresario Bill Kenwright, which also saw Green play a key role in the controversial sale of England superstar Wayne Rooney to Manchester United."

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-1603795/Green-at-heart-of-Everton-battle.html

"However, this summer the club secured a £15m credit guarantee, understood to be from Philip Green, a friend of Kenwright's and the owner of BHS."

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...nwright-is-looking-east-for-cash-6161455.html

"Florida-based businessman Robert Earl's decision to buy into Everton, as revealed by The Daily Telegraph last week, was engineered by his old friend, Sir Philip Green, the billionaire who owns British Home Stores and the Arcadia Group."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-the-wheels-of-so-many-deals-in-football.html

"Green already enjoys Svengali-like status at Everton, having helped friend Bill Kenwright lead the True Blue Holdings buy-out of former chairman Peter Johnson in 2000.

Then last year, he was at the heart of the deal which saw Planet Hollywood founder Robert Earl buy Paul Gregg's 23 per cent stake in the club for £9m, a sum Green described as no more than a bad night for him at London's Les Ambassadeurs casino.

Green had a role in the transfers of Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha to Manchester United, but his first love is Tottenham"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-484718/Greens-friends-market-Spurs.html

"Wyness refused to comment on his departure but friends said he had done nothing wrong and was helping 'an old mate' while on annual leave. It has been suggested that his departure was linked to Green's influence at Everton.

Wyness's departure prompted Green and Earl to sail from Sardinia to Mallorca for a confrontation with their former chief executive."

"Word is retail billionaire Sir Philip Green, a not-so-secretive backer of Everton, could be about to take his ball and play elsewhere. Green has long been said to be the financial support behind his relatively impecunious friend Bill Kenwright, the Merseysiders' chairman, and played a role in the acquisition of a 23% stake by Planet Hollywood entrepreneur Robert Earl.

The talk is Green may be preparing to liquidate his Goodison commitments and focus his financial firepower on the club he really loves: Tottenham Hotspur. "

"Last Tuesday, the dozens of expensive yachts in Puerto Andratx were somewhat overshadowed by Lionheart, a 208ft, £32m vessel Sir Philip Green had just sailed into town. The billionaire retail tycoon was accompanied by Robert Earl, the Planet Hollywood founder and substantial shareholder in Premier League club Everton. Green and Earl sailed from Sardinia on a mission. Before going on to Ibiza, they had some unfinished business with Keith Wyness, the Everton chief executive, who, the previous day, had resigned his post. The north London duo wanted answers. "

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/aug/03/realmallorca.business

"the rumour mill keeps suggesting that Green either loaned the club money, guaranteed part of the debt, or even helped pay for striker Yakubu. Former chief executive Keith Wyness, who left Goodison Park following concerns about who was actually running the club, intriguingly had a meeting with director Robert Earl aboard Green's super yacht before his recent exit"

Your actually being serious and quoting daily mail editorials arent you.

The fact that you think any of those links are anything other then Journos opinions/editorials and cant distinguish that from fact/actaul quotes well tells me an awful lot about the foundation of your opinions. Its like a Messi to Everton rumour in the Star.

Wasnt it not long ago Earl was lending Everton money and charging Interest, now Green owns Earls shares, you guys dont know what conspiracy you want to believe and trot them out depending on the occasion, one things for certain though we're doomed and only you can see it, to be blessed with such gifts.

Do you think that's what Bill meant about Green? He is involved in some capacity. That much is obvious tbh.

He said he asks his advice in business thats a big difference from owning the club. Despite how many times it is suggested in the daily mail, back in 2007.

If he was anyway involved in a secret/illegal capacity to you think Bill would have uttered anything got to do with him - come on!

OK, starting with the first quote below, show me where those phrases appear - do you have reading difficulties btw ? :

"Green played a major role in the acquisition of a key 23% stake in the Merseyside club by Planet Hollywood tycoon Robert Earl from Everton board member Paul Gregg, the cinemas and leisure multi-millionare."
lol Like I said all that quote does is confirm that Robert Earl bought the shares. Green himself said,

"Paul Gregg's stake in Everton was offered to me. I have always made it clear that I do not want to own a football club so I introduced Robert Earl, a good friend of mine. It is no secret that Bill Kenwright is a good friend of mine too'

- a major role if you want to spin it that way.

In relation to your last point,

lol I like how you conveniently miss off the first part of that sentence which begins,

"However, it is understood Green's involvement in the deal ..."

and so is exactly what I said - a rumour.

I don't have difficulty reading but it seems that you do since in the very same article you are referring to, Phillip Green is quoted as saying this about any interest he may have in Everton,

Phillip Green said:
'It's nothing to do with me.'

or perhaps you did read it and decided not to quote it? Funny that.

lol Like I said all that quote does is confirm that Robert Earl bought the shares.

Read it again, it actually says:

"Green played a major role in the acquisition of a key 23% stake in the Merseyside club by Planet Hollywood tycoon Robert Earl "

Which is probably relevant to Neiler's point that Green has no involvement with Everton....you know....... the point under discussion

I did and I have already dealt with this in my earlier post - perhaps you didn't read it? Green explains his "major role" as merely introducing Robert Earl - I even gave you a quote from Green to that effect taken from that same article. You can omit / ignore bits from the article that don't suit your arguement and spin things as much as you want but there is no evidence of anything more than that.

I'm seriously quoting from the Daily Mail, and six media outlets in total. Seems clear from most content that the journos are writing as fact rather than opinion. They write based on sources, and Green hasn't moved once to force a retraction. He'a a bully with buckets of money for legal action, these stories would never see print without good sources.

My point (forgetting "Coach"s distractions) was that journos have repeatedly stated Green's involvement in facilitating major EFC share transactions, in negotiating the Rooney move, and in calling the CEO to account on his yacht. Your point was that this is not true, and Green has no involvement with EFC.

That tells me why The Financial Review Team had to fold.

lol Your spin on it. They haven't - they have repeated rumours. Your "evidence" doesn't stand up.

As for "forgetting Coach"s distractions" - oh dear, you do like to forget / ignore/ omit things that don't suit your arguement don't you?

Believe me, Philip Green is a very good friend to Everton football club

From BK himself.

The words from the worlds greatest Evertonian at the last AGM went something like "he is a great friend of mine and should be a great friend of every Evertonian"

I am a fan of Bill's and I appreciate that not everyone else is. I am from the big smoke and have driven some extremely wealthy people including a couple people who know Mr Green. They all seem to like him. We need someone like Ellis Short of Sunderland who's are good business man and also see it as a bit of a hobby and don't over stretch themselves but do put their money with their mouth is and are happy to lose £60 - 80m in the first few years.

John Grayken who nobody here will know could be our saviour. He's worth about £2Billion.

We are not going to compete with the likes of Chelsea or Man City, but my god I hope we never do what the red ****e have done either and throw good money over bad on the likes of Carroll, Downing, Henderson, and Adams.

I am proud of our discipline.

Champions League football would be nice though!

Tremendous work

Being new to the forum, its a shame that the club don't consider (apologies if they did) giving the chance to the fans to buy peice of the club. I'm only talking about 25% of the shares to the fans. I'm no financial wizard but surely we could raise about £30 million without the club giving too much away. Its whats everton is all about.

In my opinion anyway.
